It’s certainly possible to make money with off-the-wall businesses like this, but unless you’re interested in taking years out of your life to experiment with an unproven business model, I would look elsewhere.

Right now, the TED team spends hundreds of hours locating and vetting only the most insightful, provocative, and influential masterminds. It shouldn’t come as a surprise since it is one of the most sought-after honors on your cv.

The TEDx Effect
When people start praising you online and saying things like, “Hey, I watched your TEDx Talk and…” you know that delivering your talk was a great use of your time.
Even if you only influence one person, your talk is worthwhile.
It means your audience heard you, listened to you, and took action due to your talk.
Why? They believed in you by the end of your speech. They believed in your message.
Putting your message in front of the people you want to hear is one of the most efficient ways to do so.
Why? TEDx has a much larger audience than most famous speakers. TEDx talks are frequently among the most-watched online. Performing well at a TEDx event can bring you noticed by people who may not have known you before.
Leave People Wanting More
You’re probably aware that TEDx Talks must be under 18 minutes. Isn’t that enough time to say everything?
That’s why it’s up to you to fill those 18 minutes with content that will compel your audience to look you up and follow. You’re every word off stage, wherever your message may lead them.
It’s up to you to guide them. It could be your next project, book, social media, coaching… Whatever it is that keeps them listening to you.
Your TEDx talk is full of satisfying breadcrumbs that leave your audience wanting more.
Your title should elicit an emotional response in your intended audience that can only be satisfied by viewing your presentation.
Reading their talk titles already reveals their popularity.
Your presentation’s title should inspire viewers to watch all 18 minutes of it.
People enjoy learning, which explains why TED Talks are so well-liked. People like titles that hint at a lesson they’ll learn.
Learning something new is a reward for humans… Then again, who has time for that?
Because TED Talks are consistently 18 minutes or less, viewers know how much time they need to invest; this means they aren’t clicking into the unknown. They’re happy to sit down for something short, sweet, and educational.
Focus On Your Idea
TEDx is looking for a speaker with a powerful, unique, compelling, and intriguing idea.
Instead of listing your experience, education, and accomplishments, focus on why your idea is the best.
Your idea should be the main focus of your application. While sorting through papers, you want the organizer to notice the strength of your idea immediately.
TEDx organizers volunteer. They organize these events because they are passionate about discovering new ideas to share with the world.
Remember that you can’t deliver a talk you’ve already given. Your TEDx Talk should be your first public presentation of an original work. They’re looking for the gem in the rough who isn’t a pro, so relax and focus on the idea worth spreading.
The Audience Is Your Client
Your application should emphasize how your talk will directly impact the audience.
How will they react after hearing you? How will their lives change if they follow your advice? And why is your talk unique in this field?
Before you even consider taking the stage, you must know the answers to all of the above. Imagine yourself in a lecture hall… What do you hope to gain from any presentation you attend? Set it in motion.
Your audience is your actual client, so impress them.
The audience is also the event organizers’ top priority. These organizers want their audience members to have the most insightful and unique TEDx Talk experience possible, like the previous point. What makes you unique and speaks to their audience?
It usually has the opposite impact to establish oneself by listing all of your achievements and credentials on your application. Instead of focusing on your experiences or why you’re the best person to give this lecture, concentrate on why you’re there to serve.
Let everyone know that you don’t mind being coached. You’re grateful to be given consideration and available to assist the audience however they see fit.
Being coachable is important because the organizers may ask you to modify your talk to better suit their event and audience (who they know best).
Making yourself and your talk flexible will help you come across as coachable and easy to work with, which will help you be remembered and possibly invited back!
Don’t be scared to show humility; it will ultimately benefit you.
Your TEDx application must be completed to a high standard to be noticed. How can you ensure this for your app? Ask TEDx to review it and ensure everything you wrote is clear and concise. This is a surefire way to perfect your application.
It may not always be the feedback you expected. It’s fine! Instead of hoping for the best, receive process, and implement.
Getting a 2nd set of professional eyes on your application is just one more step towards making things go as planned.
Plus, you’ll have more energy because you’ll know you did everything possible, including having respectable people in suitable places review your application.
The best thing you can do now is sit back and wait.
Like high quality, you want to focus on high quantity. So, what?
At any given time, at least 30 TEDx events are looking for speakers.
They want people who can have a big, beautiful impact on audiences.
Of course, you could apply to a specific event. Apply to all 30!
Applying well to many opportunities increases your chances of appearing on a TEDx stage.
Remember: there’s no rhyme or reason why some speakers get a talk with two applications and others with 88.
It’s all about the event planners. They’ll be looking for talks that fit the theme of each TEDx event.
Remember that if you remain coachable (remember?), you may be able to modify your talk to fit the event’s theme.
Feelings Are Key
Emotion is what drives people. So listening to a strong, motivating, and impactful talk can elicit emotions.
They listen for 18 minutes hoping to experience something in their heart, soul, or mind.
Your task is to pique their interest. Therefore, you must be in a mental state that enables you to experience the emotions on stage.
This entails internalizing your statements to the extent that you are forced to experience your feelings and briefly leave your head.
Nothing matters more than your facial expressions. You may even get lost in their path. That’s okay because anyone watching or listening will do the same.
Put in mind the following when planning your talk. You don’t just click “share” on a video to post it to your social media channel for the sake of it. You share it to make your friends feel the same way you did after watching it.
In other words, a speaker who talks monotonously with a stone-cold face, not showing any emotion, will not get the feeling across to an audience desperate for (and sharing) it.
Your one talk can change everything.
Are There Alternatives To Taylor Conroy?
Yes, there are plenty of other business models to choose from if you want to pursue this making money online. Here are just a few:
Is Taylor Conroy A Scam?
Time for the $1,000,000 question: is Taylor Conroy actually a scam?
I wouldn’t technically call it a scam, though others might.
It’s technically possible to make money with this program, so in that sense, it isn’t a scam.
What I’m saying is that after buying, someone will send you a login to a website where you can view their material. No one is riding off into the sunset with your money, leaving you empty-handed… technically speaking.
But the second, more important question is: is Taylor Conroy actually worth the investment?
My honest answer is that for most people out there, probably not.
There are countless other business models that are proven & easily scalable, so why risk it for… not an incredibly huge payoff?
I’d rather have a program with thousands of successful students & plenty of room for others to join.
If you’ve followed my blog for long, you know I recommend a few different programs depending on your skills & goals.
My current top choice is becoming a Digital Landlord because you have a proven, systematic path to 6-figures, and you can do it from anywhere you want.
I’ve got friends in there posting deals from the middle of the woods in a camper-van with their pet pig… which is kind of cool.
What Is My #1 Recommendation To Make Money Online In 2023?
Alright, time for me to get real with my lovely readers for a moment:
I’ve personally tried all of the major online business models:
- I’ve sold fidget spinners through Amazon FBA
- I’ve dropshipped a toilet bowl putting green on Shopify
- I’ve sold women’s health supplements via Clickbank affiliate marketing
And I made money with all of them, so trust me when I say: there is no “perfect” business model.
THAT BEING SAID: I would at least recommend you implement something that is tried and true because I’ve seen TOO MANY people (including friends and family) get burned by stuff like Taylor Conroy.
They come out of left field with some random idea, make it seem attractive, and then make themselves a quick buck by luring in unsuspecting people.
This is a big reason why I only recommend proven, tried and true business models, like Lead Generation & Ad Agencies.
There are a bunch of programs out there that teach you those skills, but my top choice is the Digital Landlords program.
Why? It has proven leaders with their own 7-figure businesses implementing exactly what they teach you.
I’ve also got over a dozen personal friends in there, so I feel comfortable telling you it works.

1)Time: If you’ve got a spare hour or two each day, you can do this. If you want to drop everything and go all-in, you can do this. More time obviously means faster results, but even putting in a few hours per day is enough to see real success.

That means you can take a month off, travel the country, pursue a passion project, chill on the beach, or charter a boat across the world.
But you can only do that once you’ve created an income stream that doesn’t require YOU to be there all day, every day.
2)Big Margins: With most businesses, you’re often going to have really slim margins. That means you need to hit a serious scale to make serious money.

Just a reminder: these Digital Rental Properties are worth (at a minimum) $500/mo in semi-passive income. And each time you create another one, your income increases, and the effort put into creating the next property decreases.
Best-case scenario, you have properties bringing in over $3,000+/mo on “auto-pilot.”
3)It’s Effectively Copy-Paste: Here’s my favorite part: once you have your first Digital Rental Property up, you can literally copy-paste another version of it and find another willing “renter” in a few days. DOUBLING your income doesn’t get much easier than that…
If you wanted to double your income with public speaking, you would need [what they need to do]. And I can guarantee you that’s a lot harder than a few clicks & a phone call.
4)You’re Helping REAL People: My biggest gripe with Taylor Conroy is that you’re basically only helping yourself.
But when you’re a Digital Landlord, you’re helping solve REAL problems that people are ASKING for help with:
Small local businesses around the world need one thing: customers. Without them, their business would fall apart. If you can provide those customers, they’re going to be really happy – and they’re going to pay you for it.
You’re helping a struggling mother or father put food on the table for their families, put their kids through college, or simply live life a little bit more comfortably.
Having this type of impact on the world is what will help you sleep soundly at night.
So, the rest is up to you. You could keep looking at other off-the-wall business models like Taylor Conroy and maybe hit it big one day.
You could keep researching and researching for the next few months (or few years), never making a concrete decision.
OR, you can look deep inside, think about those dreams, hopes, & desires, and make the decision to ACTUALLY make it happen, just like it has for thousands of other students before you.
