The Selling Family Review (2022): Best Amazon Course?

Welcome to my The Selling Family review. My goal is to answer common questions like: how much it costs, if it's a scam, & if you can actually make money with it. The end goal is to help you understand if it's a good fit for you personally, and if there are any better alternatives out there.
The Selling Family Review

This The Selling Family review has been thoroughly researched with information and testimonials that are available online to anyone in the public. Any conclusions drawn by myself are opinions.

What I Liked

What I Didn't Like

Before we get into it... who am i?

Always good to put a name to a face, so firstly, my name is Hope!

Like you, I was stuck working 8-10 hour days building someone else’s dream.

I worked at one of those cool tech companies that has omelet stations for breakfast & craft beer on tap for after hours.

To a lot of people that’s a dream, but to me… something was missing.

All I really wanted, was to actually enjoy life – more vacations, less stress, buy myself nice things without worrying about the cost… but that was something my 9-5 couldn’t provide me.

That was until a few years ago when I discovered a way to make money online by actually helping real people.

People in this case were local business owners across the US.

Me and My Puppy

The page above is an example of how I do it. That one-page site generates $1,500/mo and I haven’t even touched it since it was put up.

That’s an $18,000/year raise from just one page.

That’s why local lead generation is my #1 business recommendation for recurring, semi-passive income. If you want to learn about that business model, click here.

Important: I am not an affiliate

for The Selling Family

Why Does That Matter?

A lot of course reviewers have no experience with any of the business models or programs they review, and so they’re just making stuff up.

They do that because they want you to click through their link to buy from the person that the review is about!

They have no clue what it’s actually like to run the type of business The Selling Family is teaching you to do.
I have absolutely no relationship with The Selling Family, so you can rest easy knowing that I’m going to give you my honest opinion
This review is written based on my own experiences with Amazon FBA.

All that being said, let’s jump into things.

This review of The Selling Family’s Amazon training program will give you my unbiased opinion.

As I go through the review, I’ll go over the facts and offer you my final thoughts on whether investing in it is wise.

Everyone wants to be successful on Amazon and get passive income. However, a successful online business requires a good business model and training platform.

You have come to this page for exactly this reason! You’re about to discover whether or not The Selling Family’s Amazon FBA training course actually works.

I’m going to review multiple aspects of Amazon Boot Camp to decide if it really is the best Amazon FBA training platform out there.

I’ll talk about whether Amazon FBA is the right online business for you.

The Selling Family is pretty similar to most other FBA programs. They pitch you on the “dream” of running a profitable e-commerce business that can generate cash while you sleep.

All without having to invest much money upfront into things like inventory & advertising…

Too good to be true?

Not necessarily – Amazon FBA programs have certainly minted a few online millionaires.

It was actually one of the first online business models I made money with.

So as far as making money online goes, there are A LOT worse things you could be doing than Amazon FBA.

That being said, you shouldn’t start a business because “it’s not as bad” as some other type of business – it needs to stand on its own merits.

Choosing between the lesser of two evils always results in, ya know – evil.

So in this The Selling Family review, I’m going to break down exactly who FBA is good for and who should avoid it.

There are a few important things you need to keep in mind when considering FBA as a business:

  • Operations
  • Finding winning products
  • Time (the most valuable thing of all)

Again, it’s 100% possible to make legitimate money with FBA, but it’s NOT a simple business.

Let’s talk about why:

Operations: The big pitch with FBA is that you don’t really need to do much because Amazon handles all the heavy lifting (shipping, packing, returns, etc.).

That’s cool and all, except that Amazon has incredibly strict guidelines that you need to follow to even be able to ship out of their warehouses – something most programs don’t tell you about in their awesome marketing materials.

This process typically takes a solid 4-5 hours alone. So unless you have a very large team, this step will take up much of your time.

That doesn’t mean FBA is bad – it just means you need to know what you’re getting into. A “passive income business” is not what you’re going to get with The Selling Family.

Some courses will teach you how to outsource all of this prep to another company, but that eats into your margins significantly. Amazon is already taking 30-40% just for being part of the FBA program, so you don’t exactly have a lot of wiggle room.

Finding winning products: “Hot” products are typically only popular for a few glorious months, and then they fall off. Again, that doesn’t make FBA a bad business – it just means you need to be constantly on the lookout for the next hot thing.

If you have a supplier that you’re on really good terms with, sometimes they’ll drop you hints and tell you what’s about to trend. But this won’t happen until you have a history of making 6-figures with one another.

What this really means is that you need to be innovative and detail-oriented when it comes to staying on top of trends. You want to be the first one to the product, not the last one struggling to turn a profit off of the big dog’s leftovers.

There’s always the option of serving the “evergreen” markets that have always been around, but to that, I say good luck selling meal prep containers against the Tupperwares of the world.

So – we can safely add on another 3-4 hours worth of time each day trying to hunt for hot products.

Time: Despite what any Amazon FBA course seller tries to tell you when it comes to FBA (or any e-commerce business model), you’re looking at about 3 months of serious trial, error, & testing before even making $1 back.

It could easily take 6 months or more before you’re even at break even.

And this all assumes you’re actually getting it right out of the gate, which isn’t impossible with a good program – but it’s not necessarily the norm.

To be honest, it’s not uncommon to operate at a LOSS for the first year of any new business, so I’m not bashing FBA here – I’m just talking facts based on my own personal experience selling on Amazon.

But what if you could build a different (non-FBA) income stream and start seeing profits within your first few days?

I’m talking about a system that doesn’t have:

  • Inventory
  • Crappy margins
  • A 12-month wait time before you turn a profit
  • A continuous guessing-wheel trying to find “hot products”

Something that you could make anywhere from $2,000 – $10,000 with consistently, month after month?

A stream of income that you can build as high (or low) as you feel like building it?

If that sounds interesting, you might want to consider becoming a Digital Landlord.

Do I recommend it? It depends.

 Overall rating: 3.5/5

Background On The Selling Family

Overview Of The Selling Family

The Selling Family comprises Cliff and Jessica, a husband and wife, and their son Aiden. Cliff is in charge of the business side, and Jessica is in charge of the training.

They both lost their jobs, living paycheck to paycheck and unclear about what to do next. At that point, they recognized that Amazon might be their only option, and it was!

Even now, Cliff and Jessica both have stores on Amazon.

Today, they are successful entrepreneurs on Amazon, and it’s this success that motivated them to pay it forward by teaching others how to get started with their entrepreneurial journey with Amazon, just like they did.

It isn’t just a blog, but an experience that they created particularly for newcomers. They just enjoy helping others.

If you want to become an Amazon seller, following in the footsteps of Cliff and Jessica sounds like a brilliant idea.

Thoughts On The Amazon Boot Camp

The Selling Family Amazon Boot Camp Course

The Selling Family’s main training program is the Amazon Bootcamp, which is currently in V3.

The course was created as a manual for someone looking to make passive income. The free content they provide shows that they have used the technique themselves.

Among the course modules are:

  • Proper set-up of your Amazon business
  • The budget you’ll need to put aside
  • Ranking via SEO and PPC campaigns
  • Keep track of your supplies to ensure that you never run out.
  • Where to source products not made in China (including the USA!)
  • Proper listing and usage of high-quality images of your products
  • Implementing inspection and quality control
  • Obtaining an un-gated status in specific groups – the right way
  • Proper handling of Amazon Account Suspensions
  • Identifying and working with the long-term vendors
  • Managing product reviews and customer feedback
  • Becoming an Amazon consultant for other Amazon vendors

As you can see, the content outline is massive, where everything an Amazon seller needs are covered.

You get to enjoy the following:

  • Lifetime Access to their Amazon Bootcamp course
  • High-quality video modules
  • Lifetime Access to the Facebook group
  • A slew of bonuses to keep you motivated
  • Checklist files that can be printed

And they do offer a 60-day money-back guarantee! Only trustworthy businesses are confident enough to provide such assurance.

However, there are several drawbacks:

  • There aren’t many millionaires in their program.
  • There is no personal assistance, though very few courses provide this.
  • The course would not go into great depth about private-label tactics.
  • Those who live in the United States can benefit the most from this service.

There just isn’t anything wrong with this program, especially at such an affordable price!

Alternatives To Their Amazon Bootcamp V3?

Alternatives To Amazon Bootcamp

Yes, there are better options. However, the Selling Family offers North Americans the best value for their money at the suggested price range. Especially for those interested in retail arbitrage techniques.

In my opinion, the best Amazon approach right now is private label. You won’t experience pricing wars or being removed from listings as frequently. The supply chain and the product are entirely under your control. By using a private label, a full-time income is achievable.

It’s also worth noting that retail arbitrage is on its way to becoming obsolete. Department stores and brands are tired of resellers purchasing cheaper products.

Best Alternative To The Selling Family

Amazing Selling Machine

The most effective alternative is the Amazing Selling Machine. From a student enrollment perspective, it is the most popular Amazon course worldwide. But as I’ve already said, it’s not cheaper.

ASM is well renowned for having a high price point offered. Even so, a lot of new students still sign up every month.

Why is this so?

Simply because it produces results. The outcome always speaks louder than words. ASM’s graduates are among the world’s top Amazon sellers.

Most of the Amazon courses across the globe are patterned after ASM but come with a lower price tag. What’s the harm in this, you might ask. You get exactly what you pay for. So it shouldn’t be surprising if you don’t yield as many results as you would expect from a high-quality provider like ASM.

ASM has also produced more millionaires than most courses. If you’re not yet convinced, just take a look at the solid user testimonials on their website and other platforms.

ASM has been running for seven long years now, and their solid track record pretty much says it all.

Alternative To The Selling Family?

Proven Amazon Course

At this point, comparing The Selling Family to Amazing Selling Machine is challenging. They are marketing to two different categories of entrepreneurs. The average ASM student has at least $15,000 in their financial account; those who don’t should look elsewhere.

The Selling Family connection and training are most similar in Jim Cockrum. He offers “The Proven Amazon Course,” a course that is only slightly higher than The Selling Family.

Jim’s course is about the same price and offers many of the same opportunities. To be honest, it can be difficult to tell the difference. Jim has been in the industry for over ten years! TSF has been in the industry for a lot less than that. You can also access the Silent Team Facebook group without becoming a member and be part of the 50,000+ student community of dedicated individuals.

Jim is also a family guy with high morals, and he still shares in the community and posts using his own Facebook profile. You get the impression that he isn’t here for the hype.

However, unlike TSF, his course has produced only a few millionaires.

Why Mindset Is The Real Key

Mindset Is The Key

The thing about Amazon courses is that they are ineffective. Yes, you read that right.

Amazon courses are only as effective as the amount of work you are willing to put in. It is up to you, the user, to do the job. They do prepare and assist you, but the final decision will be yours.

It’s ultimately your duty to make it happen.

I completely agree with this one, particularly since it’s about making money online.

You must remain dedicated. Essentially, your driving force is what would propel you during difficult times. It will not always be convenient for you, but the rewards will be well worth it.

So, before enrolling in an Amazon course, ensure that your attitude is in order. You’ve got to have a winning mindset. Or else, you’re already defeated before you even start.

Mentors who have guided me are:

  • Gary Vaynerchuk
  • Tony Robbins (most famous)
  • Tom Bilyeu
  • Grant Cardone
  • Tim Ferriss

All five of these men have had a significant impact on my life. In the last 10 years, I’ve spent $40,000 on personal growth. The truth of the matter is that investing to enhance my skills and knowledge has yielded the highest returns. So, being successful with Amazon for me is just secondary.

How Do I Apply For FBA?

Go to the ‘Services’ tab and choose ‘Fulfilled by Amazon’ from the drop-down menu. This will take you to a different page. You’ll see an option to ‘Enroll for FBA today’ at the bottom right corner of this tab.

Can You Still Make Money On Amazon FBA 2022?

In 2021, the only way you can make money on Amazon is to sell private label products through Amazon’s FBA network. Approximately 71% of all Amazon sellers use the private label system to run their shop. Ultimately, once you have your product, you can start selling it on Amazon via FBA.

There’s a lot that comes along with dropshipping that many people struggle with. In fact, check out my Top 5 Reason Why Dropshippers Fail.

Now, don’t get me wrong…

You can certainly make money with Amazon FBA, but if you’re gonna put in the amount of grueling work to become a dropshipper (which, trust me, isn’t easy), you might as well bring in some REAL money while you’re learning the ropes.

The program that helped skyrocket my online business to $40,000+ per month is so simple that making money really does become second nature.

How Much Can You Make On Amazon FBA?

The majority of Amazon sellers earn at least $1,000 a month, and the super-sellers generate up to $250,000 a month — that’s $3 million in annual revenue! Almost half of Amazon vendors (44%) earn $1,000-$25,000 per month, indicating an annual revenue of $12,000-$300,000.

What Is Amazon Boot Camp?

Amazon Boot Camp is an online learning platform offered by The Selling Family (Taught primarily by Jessica Larrew) that teaches you how to make your Amazon business profitable. It will essentially train you to master the Amazon FBA’s entire process.

Are There Any Alternatives To The Selling Family?

Yes, there are plenty of other online business models to choose from if you want to pursue making money online. Here are just a few:

Is The Selling Family Legit Or A Scam?

Is It A Scam

Time for the million-dollar question: is The Selling Family a scam?

No, it’s not a “scam,” technically speaking. They aren’t going to take your money and run away, leaving you empty-handed.

You can make money with the program, but not nearly as easily as Cliff and Jessica want you to think it is.

As with most FBA businesses, there is A LOT of work that needs to be done up-front, and there is really no guarantee of you being successful.

You’ll need to get very lucky and find an awesome product no one’s heard of and then pump a ton of volume into it while it lasts.

Don’t get me wrong; I’m a big proponent of front-loading work now so that you can make money later and sip out of coconuts on the beach.

But if I’m gonna do that, I want the rewards to be HIGH and virtually guaranteed.

I’d rather put in that same 3 months of work (in my spare time) & build a handful of Digital Rental Properties that each produce $500-$2,000 checks every single month afterward (AKA recurring income).

And the cool part is that you can do it in a lot less time than 3-months (I personally did it in my first 2 weeks of being a Digital Landlord).

Unlike Amazon FBA, you can do it from anywhere in the world, so it’s a genuine “laptop-lifestyle” business.

All you need is an internet connection.

Some of my friends are Digital Landlords that run their 6-figure businesses from:

  • Camping trips at national parks
  • Beachfront in Hawaii
  • On the road in a camper van (with a pet pig!)

They focus on living an enjoyable life first, and focus on income second. All thanks to this program

They can take weeks or months off, and money keeps rolling in.

Living happily is the top priority.

If the thought of living perpetually at your dream vacation spot interests you, being a Digital Landlord might be for you!

What Is My Top Recommendation For Making Money Online In 2022?

Make Real Money Online With Digital Landlord

I’ve personally tried all of the major online business models:

  • I’ve sold fidget spinners through Amazon FBA
  • I’ve dropshipped a toilet bowl putting green on Shopify
  • I’ve sold women’s health supplements via Clickbank affiliate marketing

And I made money with all of them, so trust me when I say: there is no “perfect” business model.

That being said, my #1 recommendation for making real money online is, hands-down: being a Digital Landlord.

Whether you’re a complete newbie or you’ve been around the block before but have never had that “big win” to propel you forward, becoming a Digital Landlord is for you.

Here’s why:

1)Time: If you’ve got a spare hour or two each day, you can do this. If you want to drop everything and go all-in, you can do this. More time obviously means faster results, but even putting in a few hours per day is enough to see real success.

And because of that flexibility, you don’t need to trade your time for money. Once the income starts, it’s recurring.

That means you can take a month off, travel the country, pursue a passion project, chill on the beach, or charter a boat across the world.

But you can only do that once you’ve created an income stream that doesn’t require YOU to be there all day, every day.

2) Ownership & Control: With Amazon FBA, you don’t technically own the customer base.

Amazon could literally shut you down overnight. They have a history of kicking suppliers off their platform or stopping payouts to affiliates for certain products once they’ve built their own.

Why pour your soul into a business that could be taken away from you at the drop of a dime?

When you’re a Digital Landlord, you literally own all of the assets, which means you have ultimate control.

3) Big Margins: With FBA, you’re often going to have really slim margins. That means you need to hit a serious scale to make serious money. This usually entails spending A LOT of money on ads and other methods for growing traffic to your product.

Being a Digital Landlord, your profit margin is nearly 100%. Watch here to learn how.

Just a reminder: these Digital Rental Properties are worth (at a minimum) $500/mo in semi-passive income. And each time you create another one, your income increases, and the effort put into creating the next property decreases.

Best-case scenario, you have properties bringing in over $3,000+/mo on auto-pilot.

4) It’s Effectively Copy-Paste: Here’s my favorite part: once you have your first Digital Rental Property up, you can literally copy-paste another version of it and find another willing “renter” in a few days. DOUBLING your income doesn’t get much easier than that…

If you wanted to double your income with Amazon FBA, you would need to sell twice as much inventory or double your profit margins. And I can guarantee you (from my fidget-spinner FBA days), that’s a lot harder than a few clicks & a phone call.

5) You’re Helping REAL People: My biggest gripe with FBA is that you’re basically only helping yourself. The world doesn’t need another B.S. gadget to consume.

It’s cool in the short term to make a quick buck, but it gets really old, really fast in the long term

But when you’re a Digital Landlord, you’re helping solve REAL problems that people are ASKING for help with:

Small local businesses around the world need one thing: customers. Without them, their business would fall apart. If you can provide those customers, they’re going to be really happy – and they’re going to pay you for it.

We’re not helping Jeff Bezos shoot another rocket into space – you’re helping a struggling mother or father put food on the table for their families, put their kids through college, or simply live life a little bit more comfortably.

Having this type of impact on the world is what will help you sleep soundly at night.

So, the rest is up to you. You could keep looking at other FBA programs like The Selling Family, which might make you money 12 months from now.

You could keep researching and researching for the next few months (or few years), never making a concrete decision.

OR, you can look deep inside, think about those dreams, hopes, & desires, and make the decision to ACTUALLY make it happen, just like it has for thousands of other students before you.

Making a fortune while actually helping real people that need it.
