It Works! Review (2024): Legit MLM Or Just Another Scam?

Updated On: February 5, 2024

Welcome to my it Works! review. My goal is to answer common questions like: how much it costs, if it's a scam, and if you can actually make money with it. The end goal is to help you understand if it's a good fit for you personally, and if there are any better alternatives out there.

Because of the promises made by their distributors, I know you’re here because of your interest in It Works as a potential business opportunity.

You were probably told that with It Works, you could get healthy and make money at the same time! Of course, to do this, you would have to use It Works products and recommend them to your friends and family. If you do all that, they say, you can achieve financial freedom!

Hey, I don’t blame ya for looking into it, after all, who wouldn’t want to work on their own schedule from anywhere in the world?

I also know that you probably have some questions about it since it sounds too good to be true. From what you’ve seen so far you’re probably wondering if it’s a scam or pyramid scheme like everyone else has been saying.

So you still want to join It Works?

MLMs like It Works are a bit of a mixed bag. They CAN be a legitimate way to make money, but some have a reputation for literally ruining people’s lives – so it’s important to know what you’re getting since each one is unique.

Like most of my readers, you were probably introduced to this one via a friend or some influencer you trust online.

And it makes sense why so many people recommend them:

Making money outside of a 9-5 can be… life-changing, to say the least.

So in this article, I want to help you explore two things:

  1. If MLMs are actually a worthwhile business to pursue
  2. If It Works is a worthwhile MLM

Before that, I want to clear the air on something.

There are A LOT of people out there who bash all MLMs in any form. But I am not one of those people.

Instead, I want to genuinely educate you about them so that you can make an informed decision on how to proceed.

If you’re unfamiliar with what MLMs actually do:

They’re businesses in which you pay money to a company for the ability to sell their products.

Sometimes the products are actually kind of decent (I still remember my mom throwing pampered-chef parties when I was younger).

Other times the products are really poorly made and come with a high price tag.

Typically, the only way to really make money is to get people (mostly friends & family) to sign up with you for a recurring subscription.

If the product is 100% legitimate & valuable, it’s entirely possible to get people to sign-up and continue paying you.

If the product is subpar, you’ll usually burn those bridges kinda quickly and end up with $0 coming in each month.

The biggest issue I’ve seen is that this puts significant stress on your personal relationships, as you’re reliant on selling to your “network.”

Think about it: if you KNEW that every time your friend Sally called, she’d be trying to sell you on one of her products… you’d eventually stop answering Sally’s calls.

Now, this doesn’t mean MLMs are outright bad… it means you need to know what type of MLM you’re getting yourself into before you sign up.

Again, some MLMs provide real value to people, but MOST don’t – and so in this article, I’m going to explore what the case is with It Works.

But before that, I want to ask you a question: what if there was a way to build actual recurring, semi-passive income?

Income that:

  • Doesn’t have inventory
  • Doesn’t make you sell to your friends & family
  • Doesn’t force you to recruit people onto your “team”

Something that you could make anywhere from $2,000 – $10,000 with consistently, month after month?

A stream of income that you can build as high (or low) as you feel like building it?

If that sounds interesting, you might want to think about using the Digital Rental Method.

If you wanna see what It Works looks like on the inside, keep reading.

It Works! Company Overview

It Works Office

It Works Global, situated in Palmetto, Florida, is a multi-level marketing company that distributes skincare and other wellness products. Their major goal is to make you look nice and feel good about yourself.

So other than hopes and dreams…what do they sell?

The product they are most known for is the “Crazy Wrap Thing”.

Whether or not a body wrap like theirs works as promised is still in question, however, since then, It Works has expanded its product line.

On top of the body wrap, It Works Global offers skincare products, supplements, and many other branded accessories.

Perhaps this just goes to show how successful the company is.

It Works has such a good social media campaign that now people are buying random products with the It Works branding instead of their actual products.

They also have an It Works Give Back Foundation. This is a charity started and ran by It Works that focuses on humanitarian issues like cancer research and homeless outreach.

A skeptic might think that an MLM contributing to charity is just a publicity stunt with marketing…

And even if it might be true…you have to respect the fact they are actually putting money towards causes that actually benefit others instead of the rich execs of the corporate world.

Who Owns It Works! And When Did They Start?

Mark And Cindy Pentecost

In 2001, Mark Pentecost (CEO) and his wife, Cindy, founded the company. The Ultimate Body Applicator, or “Crazy Wrap,” was the company’s initial product and remains its flagship today.

At first, Mark Pentecost actually started off as a school teacher in Michigan before starting his own business.

Before starting It Works, he worked for a few other direct-sales companies. After putting in some tough work for those guys…he became motivated to work for himself!

It took some time and a lot of thinking and research, but eventually, Mark settled on the body wrap idea. Cindy was helpful because she supported it and was even willing to try it out!

It couldn’t have worked out better for the two, after Cindy Pentecost had seen her results, she immediately called to let her friend know!

It was at that moment Mark and Cindy Pentecost knew they had one of the best products for direct selling!

Just 4 years later in 2005, they added supplements to their product line and in 2010, they started going international!

Soon after that in 2011, they moved to Florida. Can ya blame them? Michigan winters suck!

Throughout the years, Mark and Cindy started getting involved in real estate and buying properties all over. He’s even bought a 7 million dollar ranch and 14 million dollar private island!

Do It Works! Products Actually Work?

Best It Works Products

Before purchasing and selling It Works products, it’s generally a good idea to find this out.

I’ve taken the time to go through a handful of their products and I can definitely say that some live up to the hype and some don’t.

Let’s start with that body wrap.

It Works! Body Wrap Results

It Works Body Wraps

The company’s primary body wrap product delivers on its promises. Nonetheless, appearances may be deceptive.

Medically speaking…you can’t truly lose a lot of weight simply because of a plastic wrap.

Sure, if you apply some cream and wear it for an hour, you might lose some water weight and improve visual cellulite…but this is more of a short-term detox if anything.

If you look elsewhere you will see lots of pictures, usually promoted by the It Works brand, of really solid-looking results.

However, I simply just have to look at the scientific evidence.

To lose weight and keep the weight off, you have to eat less and eat healthier.

That being said, if you add in healthier eating habits and apply the cream and body wrap…you will find the results you’re looking for.

The point I want to drive home is this…

The body wrap is merely a placebo and will only have minimal results by itself unless you have other aspects of your diet completely dialed in.

Does It Works Actually Make You Money?

Can You Make Money With It Works

Won’t that deter you from joining even if the earnings potential is little or nonexistent?

Here in the next few paragraphs, I’m going to talk about how you can make money as an It Works distributor and if it is even worth your time.

It Works! Compensation Plan: Can It Works! Make You Money?

It Works Compensation Plan

Please see It Works’ official 22-page paper for complete payment information if you’re interested in reading it.

But let’s be real, nobody has time for that!

I’m just gonna go ahead and summarize the most important parts for ya.

The most important thing you should know is that even if you sell a few products…you aren’t guaranteed a commission.

Let me say that one more time a little louder for the people in the back.

YOU ARE NOT GUARANTEED A COMMISSION, EVEN IF YOU SELL A FEW PRODUCTS!

Yeah, that sounds like a dick policy, and if you’re gonna put in the amount of grueling work to become an MLM (which, trust me, isn’t easy), you might as well bring in some REAL money.

The program that helped skyrocket my online business to $50,000+ per month teaches some of the MLM skills, but shows you how to monetize them in a much, MUCH more profitable way.

The only way you can get paid for selling It Works Products is by hitting a “commission qualified” goal.

Unfortunately, there are only 3 ways for you to qualify for this.

Option 1: You Must Sell Or Buy At Least 150 PBV (Personal Bonus Volume)

Is It Worth It

A point value is given to each product, often depending on the amount of money it costs.

Generally speaking, you’ll find that a point is typically equal to a dollar…so a product that is 40 dollars has 40 points attached to it.

So what happens if you don’t meet the 150-point requirement?

You don’t get paid as a distributor.

Simple as that.

There is a workaround though…

You could buy your own products to hit that commission mark.

That sucks though and here’s why.

Let’s say you hit $90 of sold product for the month…

You could buy $60 worth of product to meet the 150-point goal…but in doing so you’re losing money.

The commission rate is only 10%

You’d be spending $60 to only get $15 out of it.

So not worth it!

Option 2: Enroll Customers Into An Recurring Monthly Product Order Of $80 PBV

If you opted to choose this option, you’ll be able to do it less than usual, which will save you half of the work.

But if you’re not satisfied, canceling would be a lot of work, and you’d probably make your customer upset.

Their cancellation policy can take 3 months and cost $50 to do.

Honestly, that really sucks, but hopefully no one cancels and has to blame you for the headache.

Option 3: Buy Their $100 Business Starter Kit

It Works Business Starter Kit

For the first month, this is the fastest method to become commission-qualified with It Works.

After that, you can only make money with It Works through options 1 or 2.

Bummer.

It’s just really difficult to make money with this model.

You have to sell $1000 worth of It works products to just make back your initial $100 investment and even start working with It Works.

Definitely not the road to financial freedom.

So how do they propose you climb the ranks and make money?

The It Works Compensation Plan they’ve created is your stereotypical multi-level marketing company plan.

You have to recruit more It Works distributors and present them with the same business opportunity.

The more successful It Works distributors you have, the more bonuses you will have and the higher up the ladder you will be able to climb.

In fact, when you start reaching leadership levels of diamond…you’ll really start seeing some serious cash.

Not to fill you up with a false sense of hope though…only about 2.5% ever make it to those diamond levels of leadership.

It Works is pretty much your basic MLM company with the same types of policies and financial model in place.

Knowing all of this…do you still want to join It Works?

Let’s just walk you through why it’s nearly impossible to make any headway with MLM companies.

What Are MLM Companies?

Multilevel Marketing (MLM) Overview

MLM or multi-level marketing is a business model that relies on the sales of others to earn money.

Those at the top often make the most money, while those at the bottom typically don’t.

MLM companies will try to sell people by calling it a great passive income business opportunity…

However, there is a lot of work that needs to take place to get it to that point.

In fact, the only way you can start earning a lot of money is if you have many different people in your upline and downline.

Almost all MLM companies have a minimum payout rate and it is extremely difficult to get to that point because all they tell you to do is reach out to friends or family.

I’m sorry, but selling your friend a crazy wrap is not going to make you rich, and your family members aren’t going to want the same auto-ship program products each month.

It can also sometimes be difficult to tell the difference between MLM companies and pyramid schemes

Let’s break that down.

What’s The Difference Between An MLM And A Pyramid Scheme?

MLM VS PYRAMID SCHEMES

It’s important to note that, unlike MLM, a pyramid scheme often can’t stand on its own.

What I mean by this is that a multi-level marketing business will usually have a product or service they can sell to keep the company going.

Pyramid schemes depend on having people pay to join and as soon as people stop joining, the company goes belly up.

So what about It Works…where does this company fall?

It Works! Pyramid Scheme?

By the differences I have laid out above I can say that by definition…

IT WORKS IS NOT A PYRAMID SCHEME!

It Works is not a pyramid scheme because it actually sells products like a starter kit, body wraps, and weight loss products.

In fact, it has ran such a successful social media campaign that now most of its sales aren’t even for the flagship product dubbed the “crazy wrap thing”.

Pyramid schemes are illegal and I would be the first ones to tell you if it were one, but it isn’t.

However, it does have certain qualities that make it seem like a pyramid scheme.

You see, multi-level marketing companies pay their distributors strictly based on commission in most cases.

And one person can only make so much based on their efforts selling cheap products with a low commission rate.

This is where network marketing comes into play. People (distributors) in the company will go out and post on places like social media to try and find more people (distributors) interested in the business model.

What most people don’t realize until it’s too late is that this business model sucks for people individually.

They have to put in a lot of work and effort to even make note-worthy income.

Morale decreases even more when you find out how much the management levels of the MLM business make per month too.

And the business model they teach is DEFINITELY not worth it.

Does that answer your question?

It is entirely possible to build a profitable, successful online business.

My #1 pick proves this. And unlike It Works, it actually provides real proof of real success from real people as recently as a few days ago.

It Works Reviews By Customers

It Works Trustpilot Rating

According to the customers and even some of the distributors themselves…they are not a fan of It Works.

In fact, on Trustpilot, you will find that they only have 2.3/5 stars.

Ouch!

To make matters worse, it’s not just a few people that feel this way.

Trustpilot has 527 different reviews and 63% of them are 1-star reviews!

Many people are complaining about all the pyramid schemes and pyramid scheme characteristics of It Works.

Some reviews are also dissing heavy on the products themselves like body wraps.

Suffice to say that many different people are not happy with the products It works offers or the experience as a distributor.

Is It Works! A Scam?

Is It A Scam

So, time for the $1,000,000 question: is It Works a scam?

Did it Works! Make The List?

No, not technically. They aren’t going to run off with your money and not give you what you paid for. It’s 100% possible to make money with this program.

That being said, it’s not nearly as simple as they want you to think it is.

There’s A LOT of work to be done upfront and no guarantee that you’ll be successful. The commissions are also fairly small.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for doing hard work now so that I can reap the benefits later.

But if you’re going to work really hard for 3 months, and your reward is a $100 check… it’s not really a great opportunity.

If I’m gonna do that, I want the rewards to be HIGH and virtually guaranteed.

I’d rather put in that same 3 months of work (in my spare time) & build a handful of Digital Rental Properties that each produce $500-$2,000 checks every single month afterward (AKA recurring income).

And the cool part is that you can do it in a lot less time than 3-months (I personally did it in my first 2 weeks of using the Digital Rental Method).

Unlike with MLMs, you can do it from anywhere in the world, so it’s a genuine “laptop-lifestyle” business.

All you need is an internet connection.

Some of my friends are Digital Rental Method that run their 6-figure businesses from:

  • Camping trips at national parks
  • Beachfront in Hawaii
  • On the road in a camper van (with a pet pig!)

They focus on living an enjoyable life first and focus on income second. All thanks to this program

They can take weeks or months off, and money keeps rolling in.

Living happily is their top priority.

If the thought of living perpetually at your dream vacation spot interests you, using the Digital Rental Method might be for you!

Do I Recommend It Works?

It Works Not Recommended

At this time, I cannot recommend the products It Works offers or joining It Works as a distributor.

The reviews for all the current It Works product lines are not high enough to earn a recommendation from me.

What Is My Top Recommendation For Making Money Online In 2024?

Make Real Money Online With Digital Landlord

I’ve personally tried all of the major online business models:

  • I’ve sold fidget spinners through Amazon FBA
  • I’ve drop-shipped a toilet bowl putting green on Shopify
  • I’ve sold women’s health supplements via Clickbank affiliate marketing

And I’ve made money with all of them, so trust me when I say: there is no “perfect” business model.

I’ve also been on the other side of old friends trying to sell me their fancy new MLM products.

That being said, my #1 recommendation for making real money online is, hands-down: being a Digital Landlord.

Whether you’re a complete newbie, or you’ve been around the block before but have never had that “big win” to propel you forward, using the Digital Rental Method is for you.

Why?

Time: If you’ve got a spare hour or two each day, you can do this. If you want to drop everything and go all-in, you can do this. More time obviously means faster results, but even putting in a few hours per day is enough to see real success.

And because of that flexibility, you don’t need to trade your time for money. Once the income starts, it’s recurring.

That means you can take a month off, travel the country, pursue a passion project, chill on the beach, or charter a boat across the world.

But you can only do that once you’ve created an income stream that doesn’t require YOU to be there all day, every day.

Ownership & Control: With MLMs, you don’t really “own” anything – everything belongs to the MLM.

If you read the contracts, they can kick you out at any time, or change your commission at any time (it’s happened in a few high-profile MLM cases recently).

Why pour your soul into a business that could be taken away from you at the drop of a dime?

With the Digital Rental Method, you literally own all of the assets, which means you have ultimate control.

Big Margins: With MLMs, you’re often going to have really slim margins. That means you need to have a VERY large network to make serious money. This usually entails spending A LOT of money on ads and other methods for recruiting members.

using the Digital Rental Method, your profit margin is nearly 100%. Watch here to learn how.

Just a reminder: these Digital Rental Properties are worth (at a minimum) $500/mo in semi-passive income. And each time you create another one, your income increases, and the effort put into creating the next property decreases.

Best-case scenario, you have properties bringing in over $3,000+/mo on auto-pilot.

It’s Effectively Copy-Paste: Here’s my favorite part: once you have your first Digital Rental Property up, you can literally copy-paste another version of it and find another willing “renter” in a few days. DOUBLING your income doesn’t get much easier than that…

If you wanted to double your income with an MLM, you would need to sell twice as much inventory. And I can guarantee you, that’s a lot harder than a few clicks & a phone call.

You’re Helping REAL People: My biggest gripe with MLMs is that you’re likely going to ruin your personal relationships.

The MLM may have convinced you that you’re actually helping people, but it’s often not really true.

But With the Digital Rental Method, you’re helping solve REAL problems that people are ASKING for help with:

Small local businesses around the world need one thing: customers. Without them, their business would fall apart. If you can provide those customers, they’re going to be really happy – and they’re going to pay you for it.

You’re helping a struggling mother or father put FOOD on the table for their families, put their kids through college, or simply live life a little bit more comfortably.

Having this type of impact on the world is what will help you sleep soundly at night.

So, the rest is up to you. You could keep looking at other MLM programs like It Works, which might make you money 12 months from now.

You could keep researching and researching for the next few months (or few years), never making a concrete decision.

OR, you can look deep inside, think about those dreams, hopes, & desires, and make the decision to ACTUALLY make it happen, just like it has for thousands of other students before you.

Making a fortune while actually helping real people that need it.

If this sounds like you, click here to see how it all works.
