MONAT Review (2024): Is This MLM Actually A Scam?

Updated On: February 6, 2024

Welcome to my Monat review. My goal is to answer common questions like: how much it costs, if it's a scam, and if you can actually make money with it. The end goal is to help you understand if it's a good fit for you personally, and if there are any better alternatives out there.

What Is MONAT?

MONAT An MLM Company

Multi-level marketing company Monat Global Corp provides items for hair loss, hair damage, scalp irritation, and a wide range of other aesthetic goods, including hair extensions and hair extensions. It’s hard to tell if the Monat Company is a direct sales pyramid scam or a real internet business opportunity.

It’s one of many making money online programs that are centered around either selling the company’s products or recruiting other people to join the company as a market partner so they can sell products or buy the products at a discount.

The unfortunate side of this type of business model is that there are so many people who can join the program that you will be competing with.

Now, I want to be totally transparent here, so…

MLMs like Monat are a bit of a mixed bag. They CAN be a legitimate way to make money, but some have a reputation for literally ruining people’s lives – so it’s important to know what you’re getting since each one is unique.

Like most of my readers, you were probably introduced to this one via a friend or some influencer you trust online.

And it makes sense why so many people recommend them:

Making money outside of a 9-5 can be… life-changing, to say the least.

So in this article, I want to help you explore two things:

  1. If MLMs are actually a worthwhile business to pursue
  2. If Monat is a worthwhile MLM

Before that, I want to clear the air on something.

There are A LOT of people out there who bash all MLMs in any form. I am not one of those people.

Instead, I want to genuinely educate you about them so that you can make an informed decision on how to proceed.

If you’re unfamiliar with what MLMs actually do:

They’re businesses in which you pay money to a company for the ability to sell their products.

Sometimes the products are actually kind of decent (I still remember my mom throwing pampered-chef parties when I was younger).

Other times the products are really poorly made and come with a high price tag.

Typically, the only way to really make money is to get people (mostly friends & family) to sign up with you for a recurring subscription.

If the product is 100% legitimate & valuable, it’s entirely possible to get people to sign-up and continue paying you.

If the product is subpar, you’ll usually burn those bridges kinda quickly and end up with $0 coming in each month.

The biggest issue I’ve seen is that this puts significant stress on your personal relationships, as you’re reliant on selling to your “network.”

Think about it: if you KNEW that every time your friend Sally called, she’d be trying to sell you on one of her products… you’d eventually stop answering Sally’s calls.

Now, this doesn’t mean MLMs are outright bad… it means you need to know what type of MLM you’re getting yourself into before you sign up.

Again, some MLMs provide real value to people, but MOST don’t – and so in this article, I’m going to explore what the case is the case with Monat.

But before that, I want to ask you a question: what if there was a way to build actual recurring, semi-passive income?

Income that:

  • Doesn’t have inventory
  • Doesn’t make you sell to your friends & family
  • Doesn’t force you to recruit people onto your “team.”

Something that you could make anywhere from $2,000 – $10,000 with consistently, month after month?

A stream of income that you can build as high (or low) as you feel like building it?

If that sounds interesting, you might want to think about using the Digital Rental Method.

If you wanna see what Monat looks like on the inside, keep reading.

What Products Does MONAT Offer?

Hair And Skincare Products Available

People who want to improve the health of their hair and skin may do so with the aid of Monat’s line of hair and skincare products. If you join their sales team, you may become a distributor and sell more items to your friends and family.

The goal of MONAT products is that you, as the customer, can establish healthy hair and skincare routines with their products.

Is MONAT A Network Marketing Company?

An MLM Company

Monat does have its own product. The traditional MLM or network marketing model is used to promote their goods.

They call their sales guys “independent business owners or Monat Market Partners,” but at the end of the day, again, that’s just a fancy name for sales guys.

Can You Generate Reliable Income With Monat?

Generate Income With MONAT

Using Monat as a source of income may be a long-term strategy. However, the use of uncommon hair products might be a benefit or a disadvantage.

After all, people want distributors to sell trendy products. Not age-old, expensive hair and skin care products.

The downline is another thing.

Your revenue relies on your downline, which is a problem for any MLM. This means that your earnings (and rank) will fluctuate depending on how well others do. That is, in most people’s opinion, one of the worst aspects of an MLM. It means that you will never have complete control of your income.

The Monat Compensation Plan

MONAT Compensation Plan

Monat expects you to act as a “distribution” by promoting its products. If your consumers do not pay you for the items, you will be out of business.

You’re responsible for getting people to sign up for products on retainer from one of Monat’s product lines. From there, you manage the whole distribution operation. Since you get paid for sales and not hourly, your qualified leads must be, at the very least, interested in learning about their products seriously.

Therefore, being a Monat market partner does not eliminate any of the legwork associated with traditional network marketing, unfortunately. You will need space for product inventory to keep on hand, auto-ship, closing transactions, and payment processing.

Here are the ways you can earn money from the company:

Make Money From Sales

Make Money From Sales

Following the trend is a characteristic of MLM goods. You’ll always find the same goods from various cosmetics and skincare brands. Monat is the same. This company doesn’t seem to be trying to break the mold by focusing on hair and skincare but rather following an established path.

Monat distributors actually serve as a type of middleman. Customers are simply referred to the products which seem to be the right fit for them.

There’s nothing wrong with that concept, but it may limit your earning ability. After all, the more groups there are in a supply chain, the lower the profit margin for those in the lower rank.

At first sight, Monat’s income structure seems to be great. They divide commissions so that distributors receive 30% of the sale.

You’re also just only getting a cut of Monat’s profit. Monat is getting the bulk of the profit.

There’s another stumbling block. Only in cases in which Monat market partners sell products to others do they get paid. Essentially if they have some clients but not enough to hit a certain volume for a bonus…they won’t get credit if they buy the products themselves to get there.

Sellers reap an average commission of about 30%, but very few people that work for multi-level marketing companies like this make money. In fact, according to the FTC, 99% of people only break even with an MLM venture. Most people lose money in the long run with MLMs, unfortunately.

With numbers like that, it’s not super confidence-inspiring.

Make Money Building A Team

Make Money Building A Team

Monat Global will give you a modest percentage of the sales income generated by each new sales representative you bring on board. Even if the goods are inexpensive, you’ll still earn a sale piece. At most 30 percent, this is less than selling the items directly to customers.

Earning a small % of the direct recruits’ earnings is good, but keep in mind that this figure still depends on their earnings. It’s difficult to say what this looks like because sales are expected to vary greatly from one sale to the next.

The next phase is referred to as “Leveraged Revenue Sharing.” This allows you to earn from up to six levels inside your marketing team. Though the brand does not use conventional terminology, they follow a typical uni-level team structure.

The percentages are reasonable, but take a look at the far right column. To advance in the business, you’ll need to recruit a lot of people. Keep in mind that recruiting five new consultants will most likely be difficult, as selling expensive health and wellness products is quite challenging.

Is MONAT A Pyramid Scheme?

Is It A Pyramid Scheme

No. Monat is not a Pyramid Scheme. It is a legitimate Network Marketing company that sells hair care products, skincare products, and essential oils to end-line consumers. Although you can make money selling Monat products, the real money is made by recruiting and building a large sales team.

While there are plenty of not-nice things to say about Monat hair products, the one thing I can say is that Monat is a legitimate company.

There are many people that associate this company with a pyramid scheme, mostly because of the complaints that it’s been getting.

You cannot find Monat products next to the many other beauty products that are being sold in stores. Monat products are strictly sold on their website and through distributors. Monat is an MLM, and recruiters basically become their market partners.

Market partners sell Monat products through various methods, such as social media and various marketing channels. But more so, they get people to become market partners to build their downline and make more money.

Essentially if you want to get anywhere with Monat…you HAVE to be a recruiter.

Yeah…that might turn off a lot of people, and you can certainly make money with Monat that way, BUT if you’re gonna put in the amount of grueling work to become a network marketer (which, trust me, isn’t easy), you might as well bring in some REAL money.

The best way to figure out how to do that? Find out which business model fits your personality and situation the best!

What Are Pyramid Schemes?

The first thing you need to know is that pyramid schemes are unlawful. In this company concept, investors are recruited for a certain sum of money. After that, you may start recruiting folks for the next pay tier.

But here’s the thing. Nobody ever gets a product, and that’s the part that makes it illegal.

Is MONAT A Scam?

Is It A Scam

So, time for the $1,000,000 question: is Monat a scam?

No, not technically. They aren’t going to run off with your money and not give you what you paid for. It’s 100% possible to make money with this program.

That being said, it’s not nearly as simple as they want you to think it is.

There’s A LOT of work to be done upfront and no guarantee that you’ll be successful. The commissions are also fairly small.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for doing hard work now, so that I can reap the benefits later.

But if you’re going to work really hard for 3 months, and your reward is a $100 check… it’s not really a great opportunity.

If I’m gonna do that, I want the rewards to be HIGH and virtually guaranteed.

I’d rather put in that same three months of work (in my spare time) & build a handful of Digital Rental Properties that each produces $500-$2,000 checks every single month afterward (AKA recurring income).

And the cool part is that you can do it in a lot less time than 3-months (I personally did it in my first two weeks of using the Digital Rental Method).

Unlike with MLMs, you can do it from anywhere in the world, so it’s a genuine “laptop-lifestyle” business.

All you need is an internet connection.

Some of my friends are Digital Rental Method that run their 6-figure businesses from:

  • Camping trips at national parks
  • Beachfront in Hawaii
  • On the road in a camper-van (with a pet pig!)

They focus on living an enjoyable life first, and focus on income second. All thanks to this program

They can take weeks or months off, and money keeps rolling in.

Living happily is their top priority.

If the thought of living perpetually at your dream vacation spot interests you, using the Digital Rental Method might be for you!

MONAT Review: What Customers Are Saying

Customers Feedback

Some people ask, “is Monat a pyramid scheme?

The truth is that they are not one of those pyramid schemes you typically read about from FTC reports. They are, in fact, a multi-level marketing company you can join as a market partner. However, they don’t seem to have that good of a public reputation, according to reviews on the BBB.

It is worth noting that the “reviews” on the BBB are shut down for some reason. Here are some complaints that are found on the page. Names are not given, but these can be verified on Monat’s page on the BBB.

“I purchased a ticket to an event they were holding for this year and I can no longer attend. I have been trying to get a hold of them for weeks to get a refund and have heard nothing back. Meanwhile I have received many emails from them requesting more money for “more access” in the event. I find it very unethical that they are sending more emails for Money for the same event I already bought tickets for. The way they are running their business is a scam as an MLM. All I want is a refund for the ticket I paid for. It will say 2020 ticket on the photo provided, but they transferred it to 2021 due to covid. I purchased it through someone else and transferred it to my name.”

“I ordered a product from this company at least two years ago. I did not want to continue with the company and did not order anything else. Today, I have a charge on my Discover bill for $91.69. I definitely did NOT order anything, nor have I ordered anything since that initial purchase. I have had NO contact with the company since then. I want my money refunded and my credit card information taken out of their system. I am contacting Discover to also dispute the charge.”

“I attended a house party about 2-3 years ago and purchased Monat Product from the woman to help support her event. I was NEVER informed that she was keeping my credit card information and signing me up for a program that required the consumer to purchase more product over a period of time. The woman created an account AND password **** my information – when I noticed I was getting emails every month saying it was time to approve the upcoming order, she told me not to worry – to ignore the emails, and she would cancel the orders. Apparently, she had signed me up to commit to purchasing (I NEVER agreed to that). I was just sent products that I NEVER ordered and my credit card was charged without my permission. Now the company wants me to send back the product & PAY for shipping in order to get a refund. Why should i have to PAY to send back product that i NEVER ordered & NEVER GAVE PERMISSION to have my credit card charged. I already tried working with the saleswoman and the company”

“As a first time customer I ordered Monat products from an Awesome Local person here in Vegas. She was AMAZING, helped me out, walked me through purchasing the right products for me. Unfortunately that’s what the great customer service and ethical business stopped. I ordered products, paid for shipping, products came damaged, unsealed and were spilled out of the entire box. I took pictures, sent it to the amazing salesperson and called customer support. Spoke to a Supervisor, who said He would ship me out another order and guarantee that it would arrive the Friday before my event, where I was going to use the products. I made Him promise me that if it didn’t arrive that He would issue me a full refund including my shipping. Lo and behold, the products didn’t arrive as promised, and Customer Service has been tossing the buck and still have not issued my refund. I’ve spoken to over 4 Supervisors, finally had one give me her email address Tiffany and still no refund issued yet.”

What Is My #1 Recommendation For Making Money Online In 2024?

Digital Landlord Better Than Monat

I’ve personally tried all of the major online business models:

  • I’ve sold fidget spinners through Amazon FBA
  • I’ve drop-shipped a toilet bowl putting green on Shopify
  • I’ve sold women’s health supplements via Clickbank affiliate marketing

And I made money with all of them, so trust me when I say: there is no “perfect” business model.

I’ve also been on the other side of old friends trying to sell me their fancy new MLM products.

That being said, my #1 recommendation for making real money online is, hands-down: being a Digital Landlord.

Whether you’re a complete newbie, or you’ve been around the block before but have never had that “big win” to propel you forward, using the Digital Rental Method is for you.

Why?

Time: If you’ve got a spare hour or two each day, you can do this. If you want to drop everything and go all in, you can do this. More time obviously means faster results, but even putting in a few hours per day is enough to see real success.

And because of that flexibility, you don’t need to trade your time for money. Once the income starts, it’s recurring.

That means you can take a month off, travel the country, pursue a passion project, chill on the beach, or charter a boat across the world.

But you can only do that once you’ve created an income stream that doesn’t require YOU to be there all day, every day.

Ownership & Control: With MLMs, you don’t really “own” anything – everything belongs to the MLM.

If you read the contracts, they can kick you out or change your commission at any time (it’s happened in a few high-profile MLM cases recently).

Why pour your soul into a business that could be taken away from you at the drop of a dime?

With the Digital Rental Method, you literally own all of the assets, which means you have ultimate control.

Big Margins: With MLMs, you’re often going to have really slim margins. That means you need to have a VERY large network to make serious money. This usually entails spending A LOT of money on ads and other methods for recruiting members.

using the Digital Rental Method, your profit margin is nearly 100%. Watch here to learn how.

These Digital Rental Properties are worth (at a minimum) $500/mo in semi-passive income. And each time you create another one, your income increases, and the effort put into creating the next property decreases.

Best case scenario, you have properties bringing in over $3,000+/mo on auto-pilot.

It’s Effectively Copy-Paste: Here’s my favorite part: once you have your first Digital Rental Property up, you can literally copy-paste another version of it and find another willing “renter” in a few days. DOUBLING your income doesn’t get much easier than that…

If you wanted to double your income with an MLM, you would need to sell twice as much inventory. And I can guarantee you that’s a lot harder than a few clicks & a phone call.

You’re Helping REAL People: My biggest gripe with MLMs is that you’re likely going to ruin your personal relationships.

The MLM may have convinced you that you’re actually helping people, but it’s often not really true.

But With the Digital Rental Method, you’re helping solve REAL problems that people are ASKING for help with:

Small local businesses around the world need one thing: customers. Without them, their business would fall apart. If you can provide those customers, they’re going to be really happy – and they’re going to pay you for it.

You’re helping a struggling mother or father put food on the table for their families, put their kids through college, or simply live life a little bit more comfortably.

Having this type of impact on the world is what will help you sleep soundly at night.

So, the rest is up to you. You could keep looking at other MLM programs like Monat, which might make you money 12 months from now.

You could keep researching and researching for the next few months (or a few years), never making a concrete decision.

OR, you can look deep inside, think about those dreams, hopes, & desires, and make the decision to ACTUALLY make it happen, just like it has for thousands of other students before you.

Making a fortune while actually helping real people that need it.
