You’ve most certainly been invited to a herbal business opportunity by Sunrider International.

The company has been in business since the beginning of multilevel marketing.

It’s smart to do your research before investing in any business opportunity. That’s how to avoid scams and make money online legally!

For the record, I am not affiliated in any way with Sunrider International. So please know that I’m not here to pitch or sell you anything.

This review is completely unbiased.

However, the question remains: Are they a legitimate company or a scam?

So, let me tell you what this multi-level marketing company offers.

MLMs like Sunrider International are a bit of a mixed bag. They CAN be a legitimate way to make money, but some have a reputation for literally ruining people’s lives – so it’s important to know what you’re getting since each one is unique.

Like most of my readers, you were probably introduced to this one via a friend or some influencer you trust online.

And it makes sense why so many people recommend them:

Making money outside of a 9-5 can be… life-changing, to say the least.

So in this article, I want to help you explore two things:

1. If MLMs are actually a worthwhile business to pursue
2. If Sunrider International is a worthwhile MLM

Before that, I want to clear the air on something.

There are A LOT of people out there who bash all MLMs in any form. I am not one of those people.

Instead, I want to genuinely educate you about them so that you can make an informed decision on how to proceed.

If you’re unfamiliar with what MLMs actually do:

They’re businesses in which you pay money to a company for the ability to sell their products.

Sometimes the products are actually kind of decent (I still remember my mom throwing pampered-chef parties when I was younger).

Other times the products are really poorly made and come with a high price tag.

Typically, the only way to really make money is to get people (mostly friends & family) to sign up with you for a recurring subscription.

If the product is 100% legitimate & valuable, it’s entirely possible to get people to sign-up and continue paying you.

If the product is subpar, you’ll usually burn those bridges kinda quickly and end up with $0 coming in each month.

The biggest issue I’ve seen is that this puts significant stress on your personal relationships, as you’re reliant on selling to your “network.”

Think about it: if you KNEW that every time your friend Sally called, she’d be trying to sell you on one of her products… you’d eventually stop answering Sally’s calls.

Now, this doesn’t mean MLMs are outright bad… it means you need to know what type of MLM you’re getting yourself into before you sign up.

Again, some MLMs provide real value to people, but MOST don’t – and so in this article, I’m going to explore the case with Sunrider International.

But before that, I want to ask you a question: what if there was a way to build actual recurring, semi-passive income?

Income that:

• Doesn’t have inventory
• Doesn’t make you sell to your friends & family
• Doesn’t force you to recruit people onto your “team”

Something that you could make anywhere from $2,000 – $10,000 with consistently, month after month?

A stream of income that you can build as high (or low) as you feel like building it?

Sunrider, like many MLM businesses, has substantial start-up expenses. Its compensation model looks identical to that of many other MLM companies.  Adding insult to injury, this network marketing organization has nothing of value to give its customers.

What Is Sunrider International?

Tei-Fu Chen established Sunrider International, an MLM company still in business today. Sunrider maintains a database of thousands of franchise locations and distributors internationally. The company operates in 42 countries and has operational offices in 22 of them.

Its annual revenue tops $700 million, and its largest market is China. Other markets include the United States, Taiwan, Korea, and Hong Kong.

At Sunrider, there are 311 employees across the globe working for the company. They offer a range of job positions, i.e., Multimedia Designer, Legal Technical Writer, to name a few.

Sunrider Product Line

Diet tablets, teas, and healthy snacks are all kosher and halal-certified by Sunrider, making them safe for both Jewish and Muslim consumers.

The company offers products in several categories, such as:

• Herbal Foods and Drinks
• Herbal Nutritional Supplements
• Weight loss/active lifestyle
• Skin Care
• Personal Care (Hair and Body Products)
• Oral Care
• Cosmetics
• Household Products

The wide variety of Sunrider products, especially its halal and kosher certifications, make it easier to market, but I must also examine its quality.

Because Sunrider does not publish any ingredients list for its products on its website, it is impossible to believe those claims since no proof (or ingredient list) was provided.

The Food and Drug Administration does not regulate Sunrider’s herbal supplements either. You can learn more about the company’s products on its website.

Are The Products Worth It?

You need to charge a reasonable price to keep customers coming back for more and establish yourself as a market leader. I looked for the lowest item in each category to get the best deal and then compared it to comparable items.

You can see that most of Sunrider’s products are quite expensive, and you can find much cheaper options at iHerb that may work the same, if not better.

Seriously, $2.20 for just ONE sachet of tea is outrageous. It’s over a 1000% markup!

Opportunity Breakdown: Can You Make Money With Sunrider?

Independent Business Owners (IBOs)

Sunrider refers to its independent company owners as distributors/consultants (IBOs). Starting a business with Sunrider is a costly proposition.

To be an IBO, you must purchase a Starter Pack ($120) and renew every year for $120, which Sunrider claims to be the industry standard. I’ve done quite a little research on MLM structures, and this method is not standard practice.

Upon renewing, you are granted access to Sunrider University, Business Center, Mobile App, and various printed material, including newsletters and product catalogs. Retail prices are discounted by 10% for IBOs.

Preferred Customers

An alternative to becoming an Independent Business Owner is to be a Preferred Customer. A Preferred Customer membership is $30 annually and entitles you to 5% off the regular retail price.

The program allows you to earn 10% off retail prices every month – this translates into $200 of products every month!

Commission Scheme

Like other MLMs, Sunrider’s compensation model is tough to grasp. A distinct set of awards and bonuses are available for each tier, as are various payment percentages.

This strategy involves recruiting as many people as possible and convincing the recruits to do the same as well.

A Star rank is required in order to start earning Unilevel commissions, which are not available to IBOs by themselves.

If you want to be successful, you must continually achieve a certain amount of sales for your group, depending on which tier you are in.

Since this is a people-based business, your success relies heavily on the motivation and willpower of others.

Product Sales

If you’re not a member of Sunrider, you have access to their products. This is a major issue.

It is available on numerous sites such as Amazon or eBay at a member’s price or even less, indicating that its distributors are trying to offload their stocks.

Selling your products will be a challenge since you have to charge above the Member’s Price to earn any money – but if others are offering the product for less, how can you succeed?

With a worldwide presence, the company has been managed by scientists and experts since it was founded 38 years ago.

Won Legal Hurdles I The Past

In the past, this network marketing company faced legal hurdles, i.e., tax evasion, customs fraud scheme, etc., and overcame them and got out of them stronger than ever before.

Runs Their Own Manufacturing Plants

Sunrider runs its own manufacturing facilities that are NSF-certified (https://www.nsf.org/).

Offers A Wide Variety Of Products

The Sunrider line of products includes many unique formulations and ingredients and has received positive user feedback.

The product categories range from foods and drinks to health supplements, beauty products, and cleaning products.

Cons

Expensive Start-Up Costs

Sunrise International has high startup costs.

If you want to get wholesale products, you’ll need to pay a $120 membership fee (which must be renewed annually), PLUS you’ll have to buy a Starter Pack for $120.

Additionally, the company has an auto-ship program at $200 a month, which you are required to avail yourself of and could cause financial strain if you can’t consume all the products you’re receiving each month.

These costs apply from day one, even before you make a dime or sign up your first recruit!

Its Products Are Expensive And Generic.

For the SunFit Pack, I went to iHerb and looked for protein powders, smoothies, slimming teas, and hunger suppressant tablets. Every single item on iHerb is less expensive!

Also, they generally contain much more servings than Sunrider’s, making it a better value to buy and consume regularly.

It’s Recruitment Focused.

According to Sunrider’s income statement, just 1.45% of users make more than $1000 per month on the platform. Most active distributors make $177.35 a month, but they lose $271.80 a year when included in the $200 investment.

As in the case of any MLM company, if your downline or “co-workers,” if you will, fail to recruit, you will not make any significant income.

In my opinion, you should look at other opportunities if you want something more sustainable.

Is It A Scam?

So, time for the $1,000,000 question: is Sunrider International a scam?

No, not technically. They aren’t going to run off with your money and not give you what you paid for. It’s 100% possible to make money with this program.

That being said, it’s not nearly as simple as they want you to think it is.

There’s A LOT of work to be done upfront and no guarantee that you’ll be successful. The commissions are also fairly small.

Don’t get me wrong; I’m all for doing hard work now to reap the benefits later.

But if you’re going to work really hard for three months, and your reward is a $100 check… it’s not really a great opportunity.

If I’m gonna do that, I want the rewards to be HIGH and virtually guaranteed.

I’d rather put in that same 3 months of work (in my spare time) & build a handful of Digital Rental Properties that each produces $500-$2,000 checks every single month afterward (AKA recurring income).

And the cool part is that you can do it in a lot less time than 3-months (I personally did it in my first 2 weeks of using the Digital Rental Method).

Unlike with MLMs, you can do it from anywhere in the world, so it’s a genuine “laptop-lifestyle” business.

All you need is an internet connection.

Some of my friends are Digital Rental Method that run their 6-figure businesses from:

They focus on living an enjoyable life first and on income second. All thanks to this program.

Can You Really Make Money With Sunrider International?

Yes, You can!

But…

There’s a lot that comes along with Network Marketing that many people struggle with.

Now, don’t get me wrong…

It’s not impossible to make money with Sunrider, but if you’re gonna put in the amount of grueling work to do this business (which, trust me, isn’t easy), you might as well bring in some REAL money while you’re learning the ropes.

The program that helped skyrocket my online business to over $40,000+ per month is so simple that making money really does become second nature.

What Is My #1 Recommendation For Making Money Online In 2024?

I’ve personally tried all of the major online business models:

• I’ve sold fidget spinners through Amazon FBA
• I’ve drop-shipped a toilet bowl putting green on Shopify
• I’ve sold women’s health supplements via Clickbank affiliate marketing

And I made money with all of them, so trust me when I say: there is no “perfect” business model.

I’ve also been on the other side of old friends trying to sell me their fancy new MLM products.

You’re Helping REAL People: My biggest gripe with MLMs is that you’re likely going to ruin your personal relationships.

The MLM may have convinced you that you’re actually helping people, but it’s often not really true.
