Inbound Closer Review (2024): Is Payton Welch Legit?

Updated On: January 28, 2024

Welcome to my Inbound Closer review. My goal is to answer common questions like: how much it costs, if it's a scam, and if you can actually make money with it. The end goal is to help you understand if it's a good fit for you personally, and if there are any better alternatives out there.

This Inbound Closer review has been throughly researched with information and testimonials that are available online to anyone in the public. Any conclusions drawn by myself are opinions.

What Is Inbound Closer?

Inbound Closer is an internet marketing and sales training program that “teaches entrepreneurs the in-demand skill of building a full time income online by closing high ticket deals as a digital marketing consultant and earning $1,000+ daily commission checks in a $129 billion dollar industry.”

Inbound Closer is a training program that claims to turn you into a 6-figure earner by becoming a “high-ticket closer”.

To put it simply, they teach you to do sales for online courses.

To clear the air here, you can in fact make 6-figures by doing high ticket sales.

The caveat? You’re essentially trading one job for another.

Competent salespeople will always be a need. And if you’re partnered with a good product to sell, you can earn some good income and work from pretty-much anywhere you want.

The major downside here is that this all relies on things going 100% according to plan, i.e. people actually showing up to the phone calls that get booked for you, and having the motivation (and financial qualification), to actually buy from you.

And unless you’re working with the cream-of-the-crop course sellers that REALLY know how to do their marketing and follow-up, this is most likely not going to be the case.

So therein lies my biggest issue with being a “closer”: no matter how much money you may make in one month, you’re entirely at the mercy of another person’s whims in the next month (AKA your income can always be taken away from you).

The second biggest issue is lead quality. For most online programs, you’re looking at a 60% no-show rate (meaning people don’t show up to the call you have scheduled).

So if you set aside 8 hours for calls, you’ll maybe get to talk to 3-4 people at best. If you factor in only half of people being financially qualified, you have maybe 2 people that could afford to buy from you (you then of course, have to actually close them).

Keep in mind, that’s a best-case scenario.

Issue #3: commission rate. Most programs claim you’ll make $1,000+ per day in commissions.

The average commission for a coaching program is going to be around $500. That means you need to close 2 calls every single day to hit that number.

But if you’re only getting on calls with 2 people that could actually afford to buy from you, you’re going to need to have a 50-100% close rate. And to be frank, if you could do that… you should be selling your own stuff, not someone else’s.

The last issue is going to be consistency. Sales moves in cycles. You’ll have high highs, and very low lows. If you can deal with that emotional rollercoaster, then this one isn’t necessarily an issue for you.

If you’ve read some of my other articles, you’ll know that I recommend building a consistent, recurring income stream that comes in every single month.

What if you could build something that was mostly passive?

A reliable business that doesn’t require:

  • Talking all day on your phone
  • Wasting your life away with high no-show rates
  • Trading time for money
  • Living at the mercy of someone else’s decisions

An income stream that could drive consistent checks (anywhere from $500-$2,000 each) every single month, almost on autopilot?

One that you could build in your spare time, make as much (or as little) as you want to, and not have your head glued to a cell phone all day?

If that sounds interesting, you might want to look into using the Digital Rental Method,

For the others, let’s get-on with the review for Inbound Closer.

Who Are Payton Welch And Taylor Welch?

Payton & Taylor Inbound Closing

Payton and Taylor are actually brothers, and recognized for their sales aptitude. Even Taylor has his own course with Chris Evans – Traffic and Funnels.

Some people may argue that the brothers’s course is a scam, but after further research I would disagree and say that Payton is legit.

Similarly for his brother Taylor, even if it is probably true that Payton just rebranded Taylor’s program for himself.

That’s not to say that some of the suspicion surrounding the brothers isn’t somewhat merited. After reading their inbound closer sales page, I can see a lot of lofty promises and even some possible red flags that could lead some to believe they’re scammers.

It’s also not a good sign when your program has been written about in many different “get rich quick scheme” reviews.

After all, it’s never a positive thing to see a course consistently mentioned by “get rich quick scheme” listicles and reviews.

A few of their claims:

  • start earning in as little as 21 days
  • work on your own schedule from anywhere in the world
  • work just 1-2 hours a day
  • tap into a 129 billion + dollar industry that is always growing.

What Do You Get With Inbound Closer?

What's in the course

Payton Welch – a graduate of the University of Memphis – along with his brother, sell a simple online program about making money using sales. It’s pretty well known through the industry that sales is a surefire way to make money in a lot of cases.

Their landing page is pretty basic – there are navigations to bring you to the different training videos. Even the least tech-saavy among us could easily follow the interface.

Also on their page is access to the daily commission check blueprint, which is a library with 2 modules containing all the info you need to get your first high ticket client in a just a week!

After reviewing all the materials, I came to the conclusion that the course is well-built – but you will definitely need to be willing to spend a full day every on sales calls to make the daily commission they promise.

You also get access to their Inbound Closer Accelerator – a 21-day zero to hero system created by Payton for success with closing.

It’s clear that Payton really took the time when he was crafting this system. I actually found it super helpful, especially knowing it was created from when he closed $40 million in business from 3,200 calls.

Can’t argue with those results!

In addition to that, the inbound closer program includes access to 7 and 8 figure earners – along with post-call recordings where these experts break it down for you exactly how the techniques are applied in real-life situations.

I think these recordings of full sales calls are really valuable, even to someone fairly seasoned at sales. So for beginners, it’s a goldmine when a program offers them.

Most people would agree that the hardest part about sales is the uncertainty. What does it feel like to be on an actual call with a potential client? How do you know what to do in any given scenario?

The course also comes with access to the inbound closer mastermind group. Whether or not you find this helpful will depend on a lot of factors. Sometimes it can be really helpful, other times it’s just meh.

underwhelmed affiliate marketing course

It can never hurt, of course, to have the ability to access a network of online entrepreneurs!

The last part you can look forward to is Taylor’s personal network of online entrepreneurs. This is different from the support group mentioned above – it’s where Taylor and other client post actual business opportunities that you can get in on.

Just be ready to make some good phone calls to take advantage of this part of the course. To be honest, I was actually pretty surprised it was even offered this way. It’s something most people would pay extra for, but it comes included!

Mad respect, Taylor.

They also have some good materials related to scripts – 6 pages full of them to use on your sales calls. It can really help to stick to a script until you feel more comfortable on the phone with potential clients.

If there was one thing to take away from this course, sticking to a script is definitely it.

Payton Welch Income: High Demand Skill?

payton welch income

Payton Welch (not Peyton Welsh like some people mistakenly type when searching for inbound closer information) is a jack of all trades. He does digital marketing, real estate investing, and has a variety of business ventures. He’s most well-known for the “Sales Mentor” course he created that teaches telemarketing.

I bet you’re wondering if Payton Welch’s course really makes money from the skills that he’s teaching in the program. Well, it is true when we say he’s made $42,000,000 in sales from over 3,000 sales calls. Check the word choice there…I said “sales,” not “profit.”

I’ve noticed that any profits he acquires, he invests in real estate. Interesting…

Outside of the Inbound Closer accelerator course, he’s also the senior traffic advisor and digital marketing consultant for his brother Taylor Welch’s upsell course, Traffic and Funnels. This is the one Taylor teaches with his best friend Chris Evan.

Payton certainly seems to be successful in the online business space. From what I’ve been able to find, his net worth is estimated at $2 million and still growing.

His current success isn’t always how it’s gone for Payton, though. Only a few years ago he was in the same situation you may find yourself right now – working a crappy 9-5 office job that he despised. Then his big brother Taylor stepped in.

That’s right, the Traffic and Funnels course owner Taylor Welch helped Payton get out of his shitty situation.

You might be thinking…”Well, yeah, if I had a super successful family member with a million dollar company, I’d be rich too!” Actually, it wasn’t like that at all.

Payton had to start at the lowest rung of the ladder in his brother’s company and work his way up. Because he started from the bottom, Payton had a ton of growth in the time he worked for Taylor’s company – specifically in sales.

This lead to the creation of his Inbound Closer course and him turning into a really skillful telemarketer. A real inspiring story!

If you’re hoping to get some big secret out of his success with inbound calls, you might be disappointed. It was really just about consistency and repetition. Basically if you keep at anything long enough, you’re bound to make some headway. That’s the case here.

Taylor started noticing his younger brother’s high sales numbers, and asked him to train Traffic and Funnels clients on sales. He started running the sales trainings and eventually the Sales Mentor subsidiary of Traffic and Funnels began.

earning a living online

You’ll understand what I mean if you’ve ever seen those ads on Youtube for Sales Mentor. The ones that go kinda like this:

“Do you want to make money online?”

“You really only have two options.”

“First is, you could build a business like all those 2 hour webinars tell you to. Then spend the next 2 years working 70-hours each week on top of your normal 9-5 until it takes off. That’s a fine option.”

“But let me prove to you why this is actually the longer option because there’s another way. You’ll understand when you start using the method that 1.621 people have used to replace their 9 to 5s in just 21 days.”

One you start researching Inbound Closer, you’ll find that the course and certification is run by the “Sales Mentor” company name – remember that course from when Payton Welch first started out?

It makes sense that a lot of people want to know whether these two courses are the same. They don’t cost the same, but I’ve found that they are actually very alike when it comes to the content.

Two Main Components of Sales - Payton Welch

I don’t think Payton’s a bad guy – his course offers a lot of valuable knowledge and it’s more than just one free training video about sales and marketing. And he’s clearly earned his spot in the industry with very basic business structures.

No one can deny that Payton and Taylor Welch are making a lot of money online. You can’t have a huge channel like they do, while spending a ton in paid advertising, and be poor at the same time.

Sales Mentor channel

One weird thing you may have noticed is that their Youtube channel actually only has 500 subscribers. Seems a bit small, no? Especially since they have a video on there that’s been viewed over 3 million times.

Well, it’s easy to deduce that they probably use that particular video in their Ad pitch for Inbound Closer and Sales Mentor. Now that’s what I call great inbound marketing!

It may seem unbelievable to you, but there are plenty of online digital course creators and online marketing gurus who actually prefer NOT to have a large social following, even if they’re raking in the dough. Those guys try to stay under the radar and enjoy working more behind the scenes.

Payton Welch social media

I’ve noticed, though, that Payton is starting to get more open on social media, especially Instagram. It seems like he’s going more the way of Kevin David (Amazon) and Tai Lopez (self help) – exhibiting his desirable lifestyle. I wonder if that means he’s got another thing to sell in the works?

Gurus will often do this to provide “social proof” to an audience that their course is worth taking, since the creator is living in the lap of luxury. And who wouldn’t want to emulate that success?

Inbound Closer Main Certification Program ($997)

Inbound Closer Certification Program

Here’s some detailed summaries of their upsell course if you were ever thinking of going further than the $97 buy in.

Module 0: Becoming The Person Who Deserves Success

This module is basically your run-of-the-mill intro that you’d get in any course similar to the Inbound Closer system. They tell you some basics, what you need to pay attention to in the upcoming modules, and there’s a note sheet you can print out if you want to record your notes that way.

Once the introductions are over, Payton lays out why he thinks inbound closing accelerator is the hottest opportunity in the market today. Then he goes over the ins and outs of the certification and what will come next.

Something you won’t want to skip is the mindset lessons. It’s super important, in my experience, to have a positive mindset when starting something new like this. It’s essential to use these skills in affiliate marketing and beyond.

Module 1: Closer’s Mindset

Any Inbound Closer knows that sales as an art is actually a mind game when it comes down to it. Payton talks about this concept in Module 1. His hypothesis is that the mindset is actually what makes a truly success closer stand out, and what causes some to fail. He gives you tips to make sure you’re in the right mindset.

Next, Payton goes over some like philosophies that are meant to change your perception as to what’s achievable as a successful Inbound Closer. Here’s some of what he covers:

  • The 3 Beliefs That Leads To Sales Gold
  • Laws Of Wealth and How To Make More Money
  • How To Remove The Ceiling Of Your Earning Potential
  • Mastering Energy – 10 Points Of Personal Optimization
  • Habits of Control

And of course there are some useful bonus telemarketing lessons:

  • Finding Great Partners With Eli & Taylor
  • If People Aren’t Criticizing You, You Are Playing Small
  • Money Mindset
  • Promoted To Chaos – How To Advance Beyond Your Comfort Zone

If you haven’t picked up on it yet, this whole module is setting you up to understand that mindset is the most important element to ensure your success.

Module 2: Self-Empowerment

Here’s another module fairly focused on mindset. Instead of Payton narrating these, you’ll see it’s Eli Wilde who takes over. He’s another of the Sales Mentors in the course.

During this lesson, Eli talks about the cruciality of having confidence when speaking with a client. After all, you expect them to pay you, and who would pay someone who didn’t have a sense of authority when talking about their subject expertise? I know I wouldn’t.

Next he goes over how sales is related to leadership, explaining how you can elevate your mindset. Eli Wilde has a unique perspective to teach on sales – instead of thinking of yourself as a salesperson, you’re more of a protector for the client. You’re trying to guide them away from shady people.

Some more bonus modules are:

  • Risk Versus Safety
  • What Is ROI – Changing Your Perceptions On Types Of ROI
  • What To Do When You Have Lost Your Drive
Module 3: Introduction To Closing

Now is where you finally get to learn about closing high ticket deals. Again, Eli is heavily featured in this module – I recommend to pay attention here and take notes so you can reference them later on.

He goes into detail on how you can prepare for the close. It seems small – but it’s really something you don’t always realize you’ll need until you’re in the moment – and by then it’s too late. So remember this lesson for when you start making calls.

Pay attention to the list of challenging questions from Taylor Welch in this module – they’ll help you when talking to a client who is resistant to your pitch. It’ll allow you to make a deeper connection quicker.

Module 4: Closing With Confidence

This module is an extension of the previous one – Eli Wilde continues to cover how best to prep for a sales call, before during AND after. And most importantly, how to have confidence all the way through to the close.

Basically, if the potential client can sense that you aren’t confident in what you’re saying – including avoiding their questions or not answering fully – they’ll be less likely to buy what you’re selling.

Eli also goes over an aggressive version of the closing sales script they use – not for the faint of heart. You shouldn’t use this unless the situation calls for it.

It’s one thing to be confident, but quite another thing to be over the top and even antagonistic. Tough love is sometimes needed, but try to save this method for special circumstances.

Module 5: Mastering Objections

Ok, Module 5 is the big one you need to master to truly be successful. It separates the amateurs from the professionals. Eli Wilde walks you through how to handle objections correctly – an essential skill if you want to seem confident with your prospect.

If you follow Eli’s teachings, there’s no doubt you’ll have a leg up on someone who has no idea how to handle objections. The framework and techniques he covers will no doubt make you feel more comfortable on a call regardless of what your hight ticket client prospect is objecting to.

Mastering objections, if you really develop the skill, will make you uniquely qualified to close a sale compared to 99% of your competitors. Can’t argue with this tactic!

Module 6: Becoming A Professional Inbound Closer

Module 6 is simply a bonus for you if you’ve completed the rest of the modules. It’s supposed to be the cherry on top of the course – a reward that will make you a true professional Inbound Closer.

When you’ve finished the course and gotten certified, you get access to the groups I mentioned above and the owners network. They also stress that continued mentorship is key to success and evolution as an inbound closer. The last thing you unlock will be some templates to help with creating your own personal inbound closer bio.

Inbound Closer Honest Breakdown

Honest Review Inbound Closer

I want to give you a reality check after going over the details on this course. Yes, it’s true that the high ticket sales industry is worth $129 billion, it’s not an easy road to try to get in when you’re a beginner.

Payton may claim it’s easy as pie to get your first client, but the reality is that 21 days to a first client is a very unlikely scenario. Not impossible, but not as common as he makes it seem.

Eventually you will hear Payton admit that the results aren’t as typical as he initially promised, but that’s after you’ve already set your sights on the 3 week timeframe.

I just wish he was more upfront about the facts.

If you want to find any success in this profitable industry worth over a hundred billion dollars – you’re going to have to work for it. I’m talking every single day, including weekends and holidays, and make sure that you follow their phone script exactly.

Another thing that I don’t think most people realize is that with Inbound Closer, you don’t get a lead list to start your prospecting on.

So to even begin, you have to go out yourself and manually fill your sales funnel before you can even begin making sales calls. Trust me, that is no easy task.

Of course, you’ll soon realize that Payton and his team will gladly help you filling your funnel – for a price. They’ll give you a list of prospects in their high ticket programs upsell offer.

So let me be blunt – the average student in this course doesn’t get that daily commission check they’re promised.

Remember, you’d have to make at least one sale EVERY SINGLE DAY.

So that’s a main reason it’s not one of my top recommendations compared to other courses. The statistics just aren’t on your side.

I’m sure now your question is…

How Much Do Inbound Closers Make?

Yes, you can make money with Inbound Closer as long as you put in the effort… but like I’ve said before, I personally think there are better ways.

Absolutely, you can make money with this program. I’d be remiss if I didn’t say that.

Follow their program closely and you can certainly make some money. But don’t expect it to happen overnight or even in the 3 week schedule they advertise. You have to get good at the inbound closing.

You may have seen other Inbound Closer reviews and success stories from your googling – by my measure they can be fairly mixed. So which are real and which aren’t?

One thing I will say for it, inbound closing is leaps and bounds easier than cold call closing. So it has that going for it. But I think if you did pay for it, you may end up using their money back guarantee to your advantage and end up wanting a refund.

I’m sure you didn’t come across this telemarketing program just because you wanted a small bit of money for a lot of hard work. I figure if you’re willing to put in that much work, why not get some substantial money out of it?

The program that helped skyrocket my online business to $40,000+ per month teaches some of the same sales skills, but shows you how to make money with them in a much, MUCH more profitable way.

Is Inbound Closer A Scam?

Is Inbound Closer Legit?

Time for the $1,000,000 question: is Inbound Closer a scam?

No, it’s not a “scam”, technically speaking. You can 100% make money with it, and to be honest if you’re already stuck trading your time for money in some 9-5, it’s not a bad gig.

The thing to keep in mind is that you are NOT creating a lasting business. You’re changing jobs. You’re not going to have the luxury of sippin’ coconuts on the beach, because you will always be trading your time for money.

That doesn’t mean Inbound Closer is bad. You just need to be realistic with what you’re buying.

If half of your day is spent twiddling your thumbs because your scheduled call didn’t pick up, you could easily have spent that time building a reliable recurring income stream.

Wouldn’t you rather spend a few hours of your free time each day to generate a $500-$2,000 check that would continue to come in month after month?

Read Our In Depth Breakdown Of The Top 5 SalesOpp Courses For 2024

Did Inbound Closer Make The List?

And what if you could get that first payment within a week?

And what if you could double or triple it by the end of that month?

Well, that’s what’s possible when you become a Digital Landlord

All you need is a laptop and some internet.

Some of my friends are Digital Rental Method that run their 6-figure businesses from:

  • Camping trips at national parks
  • Beachfront in Hawaii
  • On the road in a camper-van (with a pet pig!)

They focus on living an enjoyable life first, and focus on income second. All thanks to this program.

They can take weeks or months off, and money keeps rolling in.

Living happily is the top priority.

If the thought of living perpetually at your dream vacation spot interests you, being a Digital Landlord might be for you!

What Does Inbound Closer Cost?

Inbound Closer Price

Here’s some good news – the Inbound Closer program costs only $97. That’s a lot more affordable than the programs that offer only monthly subscriptions. You don’t have to worry about that with this course as it’s a one-time fee.

Even in a market worth $129 billion, these guys give you some pretty good tips and useful high-level skills for only $100.

It won’t break the bank for most that decide to enroll. The worst that could happen is that you don’t find much value in it and you can get a refund thanks to their money back guarantee refund policy.

Final Thoughts

Inbound Closer Review Conclusion

I’ve decided that this program is actually one with some helpful information, but more likely is just a high level affiliate marketing play on Payton and Taylor’s part. I’ve noticed they try to upsell other courses like Traffic and Funnels, among others, throughout the training.

Traffic and Funnels is a fine course and all, but it was just a bit too suspicious how often it got a mention from the training videos. At a certain point I wondered if I was actually watching an ad for that rather than learning a lesson.

Finally, this course teaches you important skills but it takes a long time and a lot of practice to have enough skill to make the numbers they do in their business.

I thought I’d mention an option for you if you really aren’t comfortable on the phone – you can even use strictly email communications if you want!

What Is My #1 Recommendation For Making Money Online In 2024?

Better than Inbound Closer

I’ve personally tried all of the major online business models:

  • I’ve sold high-ticket coaching programs
  • I’ve sold fidget spinners through Amazon FBA
  • I’ve drop-shipped a toilet-bowl putting green on Shopify
  • I’ve sold women’s health supplements via Clickbank affiliate marketing

And I made money with all of them, so trust me when I say: there is no “perfect” business model.

That being said, my #1 recommendation for making real money online is, hands-down: being a Digital Landlord

Whether you’re a complete newbie, or you’ve been around the block before but have never had that “big win” to propel you forward, using the Digital Rental Method is for you.

Why?

1) Time commitment: If you have an hour or two per day, you can do this. Even if you want to drop everything and commit fully, that works too.

You don’t have to be constantly working to make money. The income you generate is recurring.

Imagine taking off for a month to places like Hawaii, Paris, National Parks, & other spots people only dream about – all while collecting dozens of little $500-$2,000 checks. It’s like a dream come true.

But it’s only possible to do it when you’ve separated your income from your time.

2) Complete control: When you work as a salesperson, you don’t own or control a thing. You can’t even decide what type of leads you get, how many you get, or how much you get paid for them.

When you own and control Digital Rental Properties, YOU own the assets, which means YOU are in control.

3) It’s Effectively Copy-Paste: Here’s my favorite part: once you have your first Digital Rental Property up, you can literally copy-paste another version of it and find another willing “renter” in a few days. DOUBLING your income doesn’t get much easier than that…

If you wanted to double your income with these types of deals, you would need to work double the hours, or double your close rate. And I can guarantee you, that’s a lot harder than a few clicks & a phone call.

4) You’re Helping REAL People: My biggest gripe with high ticket sales is that it’s just another job.

But With the Digital Rental Method, you’re building a lasting business by helping solve REAL problems that people are ASKING for help with:

Small local businesses around the world need one thing: customers. Without them, their business would fall apart. If we can provide those customers, they’re going to be really happy – and they’re going to pay you for it.

You’re helping a struggling mother or father put FOOD on the table for their families, put their kids through college, or simply live life a little bit more comfortably.

Having this type of impact on the world is what will help you sleep soundly at night.

So, the rest is up to you. You could keep looking at other high ticket sales programs like Inbound Closer, which might work out.

You could keep researching and researching for the next few months (or few years), never making a concrete decision.

OR, you can look deep inside, think about those dreams, hopes, & desires, and make the decision to ACTUALLY make it happen, just like it has for thousands of other students before you.

Making a fortune while actually helping real people that need it.
