Not the best business model in 2022

You’ve undoubtedly given Poshmark some thought if you’ve been searching for other methods of making money online.

The question of whether or not you should act on it has become a genuine one.

Well, maybe I can help you out a bit…

Poshmark is pretty much your standard dropshipping course.

If you’ve followed my blog for long, you know that I don’t like dropshipping as a business model for a few different reasons.

That being said, it IS possible to make money with it, so I want to give you an honest review of this particular program.

But first, let me clear the air on one important thing:

Dropshipping has never been – and will never be – a passive, recurring business. No matter what the guru might tell you, it requires constant work.

I’m telling you this from my own personal experience running several dropshipping stores on both Shopify AND Clickfunnels.

If you’re looking for a business that you’ll need to be super active in, dropshipping might be for you.

If you want to make money while you sleep and travel the world, dropshipping just isn’t it.

The main reason?

To have real success with dropshipping, you need a bulletproof system for finding the hottest new products before anyone else.

In the very best case scenario, you have a relationship with your supplier, where they give you a heads up on products that are about to pop. These relationships don’t typically come around until you’ve done 6-figures in business with the supplier.

In the worst-case scenario, you’re testing a bunch of products with ads, losing money until you find that one winner.

I’m not saying dropshipping is a bad idea based on that alone… most businesses require you to lose money before you actually make money, so it’s somewhat normal.

But let’s assume you DO in fact have the next fidget-spinner craze product, months before anyone else knows about it…

That’s great! But now you’re gonna need to get people to buy it.

Translation?

  • Tens of thousands of dollars in ads
  • Tons of time spent split testing to find the best landing page variations, best product descriptions, best ad copy, best ad videos, etc.

Again, some people thrive on that and love it. So if you’re looking for that level of constant testing and gambling, it might be a good fit.

It’s also worth calling out that Facebook has a track record of banning you FOR LIFE from advertising on their platform for dropshipping.

Think about it: it ruins a user’s experience with Facebook when a product shows up 45 days after they’ve ordered it, and is nothing like the product they thought they were buying.

So Facebook would rather ban you from their platform than risk a bad user experience.

Suffice it to say; it’s a lot of stress for not a lot of payback.

As someone that actually ran a dropshipping business, I can tell you from personal experience that your time can be better spent with other business models.

If you’d prefer a business model that generates recurring, semi-passive income, you may be interested in using the Digital Rental Method.

This means:

  • No sketchy suppliers
  • No razor-thin margins
  • No banned ad accounts
  • No super angry customers
  • No spending $10K testing an ad campaign

It’s something that you could make anywhere from $2,000 – $10,000 with consistently, month after month.

A stream of income that you can build as high (or low) as you feel like building it.

If that sounds interesting, you might want to think about using the Digital Rental Method.

For the Poshmark review, let’s keep reading.

What Is Poshmark?

What Is Poshmark

Poshmark is a well-known online shopping platform where users can buy and sell trendy apparel, footwear, and accessories.

As a buyer, you get instant access to the shelves and racks of other buyers.

Poshmark’s selling tools allow you to reach millions of buyers.

Poshmark’s Past:

Over $160 million in venture money has been raised. In 2018, Forbes named it a Next Billion-Dollar Startup.

Poshmark may be a small part of the $600 billion US eCommerce market. Still, the desire for cheap items is huge, and online retail proliferates.

How Does Poshmark Work?

Using Poshmark is simple. To put anything on a marketplace, you only need to snap a picture of it. Then, you may upload the photo with a description and asking price from your mobile device to your Poshmark closet.

Just post your ad on social media for others to discover. There is a direct correlation between sharing and increased revenue. A shipping label that is already paid for saves time and money.

Poshmark takes 20% on above $15 sales ($15.00 – $19.95 fixed rate). The money is then credited to your Poshmark account once the item is delivered. And, you don’t have to worry about collecting and remitting sales tax for your online marketplace transactions since Poshmark does it for you.

This is a simple platform. Simply fill out your profile and list your stuff after signing up.

Buying On Poshmark

It’s easy and safe to buy anything on the site. Either users or Poshmark Closets may make a sale. The endorsed wardrobe of a store or manufacturer. On the platform, you can buy both new and used clothes. It comes in various styles for men, women, and children.

Poshmark’s Successes

You may get rid of your old clothes guilt-free and cheaply on Poshmark. To complement their online shops, many network users also maintain beauty blogs.

Many people now sell items full-time on this market to support their families.

Here are three successful Poshmark users:

Suzanne Canon: the first Poshmark millionaire. The 39-year-old mother of two began selling her old clothes to supplement her income and built a lucrative wholesale clothing business within five years.

Ashley B., 32, works in Houston. She joined Poshmark to buy and sell clothes, became a top 10% seller on Poshmark in less than a month, she now makes a livelihood from it.

@haleys hanger is a full-time Poshmark seller. A deal is a good bargain for her, and she negotiates with sellers until both parties are happy. That’s why she’s famous and successful.

By September 2019, the site paid over $2 billion to vendors, a significant increase year on year.

Advantages Of Selling On Poshmark

There are several advantages to selling on the site, whether you’re looking to unload your closet or launch a fashion empire.

  • Listing Process: On Poshmark, you may list numerous goods in the time it takes to list one on Mercari. The entire procedure is streamlined.
  • Easy Shipping: Shipping items is simple. Clothes don’t require weight or shipping calculations. Poshmark buyers pay a set amount for shipping and are occasionally offered discounted shipping. The platform includes a mailing label, so all you have to do is put the products in a Priority Mail box and take them to the post office.
  • No Listing Fees: Poshmark has no listing fees, so you can start selling immediately by uploading photos of your things, along with a description and pricing.
  • Active Market: Poshmark has a large number of purchasers and the platform heavily promotes its site. Many people interested in fashion will open the Poshmark app daily, allowing your listed things to reach a broader audience than if you sold them on another platform like Facebook Marketplace, eBay, etc.
  • Community Network: Using Poshmark, you can purchase and sell products in a social network-like setting while fostering relationships with the Poshmark community.
  • Email and Push Notifications: You will receive both push notifications and emails when you make a successful sale on Poshmark.

Without a doubt, Poshmark has a lot going for it regarding selling. You’ll need at least 30 objects to list to make the exercise useful. It would help if you didn’t sell anything with tears, stains, or other obvious evidence of use.

Poshmark Disadvantages

As with most things, there are two perspectives to consider. There are benefits and drawbacks to using this online marketplace to sell clothing online.

High fees: Poshmark gets 20% off every sale. Other platforms like eBay and Mercari charge 10% and 13%, respectively.

High seller fees are warranted if your listings perform successfully. The high rates for well-known brands and trends on Postmark’s market justify the hefty costs.

Be Active: Be active on the platform to move more goods. Especially for new Poshmark sellers, you must be willing to spend time socializing with your followers and sharing your content with your network.

As a social commerce marketplace, if you enjoy sharing, liking, following, attending Posh Parties, and commenting, you will enjoy this site.

Selling Restrictions: One of the primary drawbacks of this platform is the restriction on what you may sell. This discourages those seeking diversity because it entails adding another platform.

To sell clothing, shoes, accessories, and a few household products, Poshmark is the ideal venue.

Poshmark For Beginners (How To Get Started)

Poshmark For Beginners

While Poshmark has a low barrier to entry, it isn’t for everyone. Some Poshmark users earn more than others, and there are steps you can take to enhance your revenue. Take the following steps into consideration:

Find Items For Sale

Poshmark requires more work than just going through your closet to find things to sell. To thrive on this platform, you must be in tune with popular tastes and fashion trends.

Starting out, you don’t need to worry about locating the latest, trendiest goods to sell. As your Poshmark audience grows, you’ll be able to see which things sell well and which ones don’t.

Right now, to sell items, you can focus on goods you already own or shop at a thrift store for bargain clothing. Poshmark allows you to easily purchase and sell clothing for men, women, and children.

Poshmark now allows you to sell household products. So go through your house and discover what you no longer need. In this manner, you can avoid losing money on unsellable items.

Clean Your Items

After you have collected the goods, you should check their condition and only sell the good ones. If it has tears, stains, or other signs of wear, you won’t be able to send it via the mail.

Your goods should be clean, wrinkle-free, and odor-free. So, wash, iron, or steam your things as needed.

Notify any damage in your product description.

After cleaning and sanitizing your things, you can move on to the following step.

Check Comparable Items

Poshmark lets you pick any listing price you want, but that doesn’t mean it will sell. You should always check comparable sold products (comps) and cost to the relevant retail price.

Assuming you’re looking to sell a pair of men’s hiking boots. Simply search Poshmark to check the retail price for the sold items.

You can search for similar sold items by color, size, or “new with tags” to find a match.

Remember that you can still overprice and then accept bids. Many platform vendors do this to give their buyers the impression that they got a great price.

Take Quality Pictures

After cleaning and inspecting your item, it’s time to prepare it for Poshmark. Take close-ups of the item first.

To entice consumers, you need to shoot outstanding photos with inappropriate lighting. You may capture images using your camera, edit them, and upload them to the app.

But using the app makes everything much easier. So, open Poshmark, pose your products, and take photos with your phone.

Use natural light and approach as near your subject as possible while still obtaining the whole thing in the frame.

Make quality photos with whatever equipment you have. To make your things appear their best, you may want to invest in a lightbox, mannequin, light ring, and other tools.

Each item can have up to 12 photographs. If you must, load them with photos from various viewpoints.

  • Photograph the size tag and label.
  • Take close-ups of any defects or blemishes.
  • Photograph any damage or discoloration.
  • See the material up close.
  • Capture the item’s front and back
  • Consider taking a photo with the clothes on.

You want your customers to have all the information they need to make an informed purchase. Including all of this information reduces the number of comments.

Use Keywords In Titles And Descriptions

You probably already know that keywords help searchers find your products.

Most online shoppers on Poshmark look for specific items. They utilize keywords like “Men’s Denali Fleece Jacket” or “Kids’ Winter Gloves” to find what they want.

Do: Pick keywords that describe your item. Include the brand and style name in your title.

Don’t: Use abbreviations, emoticons, or non-descriptive phrases and terms like “nice jeans.”

Using the appropriate keywords in titles and descriptions helps your listing appear in Google searches. This will ultimately attract additional search engine purchasers to your closet.

Disclose Damage

Even if something is damaged, you may still sell it on Poshmark. However, you must inform your buyers of any harm. As in:

  • Is the item torn or stained?
  • Is the zipper broken?
  • Is there a hole in any pocket?
  • Is there any fraying?

Identify any of these in your description to avoid payment delays and refunds.

Include Correct Measurements

Your descriptions must include accurate measurements. Poshmark items cannot be returned for fit. This benefits sellers but disadvantages purchasers.

So, to help shoppers buy your things, add all important measurements in your description. This will also save you time answering many measurement requests from potential customers.

Some of the most common measurements are:

  • To measure a top/jacket, lay it flat and measure from shoulder to hem.
  • Waist, rise, and inseam of jeans/pants
  • Size dresses by armpit, shoulder, hips, and waist.

Leverage Offers And Markdowns Like Discounted Shipping

When selling on Poshmark, you must comprehend offers and markdowns.

Users can “like” or “watch” something. Poshmarksellers can send them exclusive offers with a shipping discount rather than lowering the price for the broader public.

You can also host “Closet Clear Out” or CCO markdown events utilizing Poshmark’s “Offer to Liker” or OTL. This allows you to offer buyers free shipping if they buy within six hours of the price drop. Poshmark will cover the cost of shipping supplies and packaging materials.

Customer Service And Follow-Up

You must also follow up with your consumers and respond to their feedback immediately as a Poshmark seller.

Customers may give you great, individualized comments. Still, they may also give you lousy criticism about your product, packing, shipment time, etc. Instead of ignoring or retaliating, use them to improve your service and turn dissatisfied customers into fans.

These are just a few tips to increase your Poshmark sales. Be sure to remember these tips as you prepare to sell on this site!

Are There Alternatives To Poshmark?

Other Dropshipping Programs To Choose From

Yes, there are plenty of Dropshipping programs and resources to choose from if you want to pursue this business model. Here are just a few:

Is Poshmark A Scam?

Is It A Scam

So, time for the question you’ve been waiting for: is Poshmark a scam?

No, not technically speaking. They aren’t going to take your money and ride off into the sunset without delivering you access to their course.

It’s 100% possible to make money with this program, but it’s not nearly as simple as Poshmark wants you to think it is.

There is A LOT of upfront work to do, and no guarantee of success.

Don’t get me wrong – I’m all for doing hard work now so that I can collect checks in the future.

But if I’m going to spend 3 months of my life working super hard & spending thousands of dollars, just to break even… it’s just not worth it (in my opinion).

Think about it: what if you worked that same 3 months with just an hour or two per day, and in return, you could collect a $500-$2,000 check that continues to come in every month?

Even better, what if you could actually get that first check in as little as a week?

And what if you could double or triple it over the next month or two?

That’s what you get when you use the Digital Rental Method.

All you really need is a laptop and some internet.

Did How To Sell On Poshmark In 2022 Make The List?

Some of my friends are Digital Rental Method that run their 6-figure businesses from:

  • Camping trips at national parks
  • Beachfront in Hawaii
  • On the road in a camper van (with a pet pig!)

They focus on living an enjoyable life first, and focus on income second. All thanks to this program

They can take weeks or months off, and money keeps rolling in.

Living happily is the top priority.

If the thought of living perpetually at your dream vacation spot interests you, using the Digital Rental Method might be for you!

What Is My Top Recommendation For Making Money Online In 2022?

Make Money Online With Digital Landlord

I’ve personally tried all of the major online business models:

  • I’ve drop-shipped a toilet bowl putting green on Shopify
  • I’ve drop-shipped jade rollers via Clickfunnels
  • I’ve sold fidget spinners through Amazon FBA
  • I’ve sold women’s health supplements via Clickbank affiliate marketing

And I made money with all of them, so trust me when I say: there is no “perfect” business model.

That being said, my #1 recommendation for making real money online is, hands-down: being a Digital Landlord.

Whether you’re a complete newbie, or you’ve been around the block before but have never had that “big win” to propel you forward, using the Digital Rental Method is for you.

Why?

1)Time: If you’ve got a spare hour or two each day, you can do this. If you want to drop everything and go all in, you can do this. More time obviously means faster results, but even putting in a few hours per day is enough to see real success.

And because of that flexibility, you don’t need to trade your time for money. Once the income starts, it’s recurring.

That means you can take a month off, travel the country, pursue a passion project, chill on the beach, or charter a boat across the world.

But you can only do that once you’ve created an income stream that doesn’t require YOU to be there all day, every day.

2) Ownership & Control: With dropshipping, you don’t actually own anything. You can’t control your product quality, or even what the package looks like when it shows up.

Technically you own your Shopify site… but ad platforms could shut you down on a moment’s notice… so you don’t really have much control there.

Why pour your soul into a business that could be taken away from you at the drop of a dime?

With the Digital Rental Method, you literally own all of the assets, which means you have ultimate control.

3) Fulfillment: Alright, so you don’t have any inventory… but that worry has been replaced with the pains of overseas fulfillment.

That means your customer is going to have to wait 3-4 weeks to receive their order.

Then add in the current global supply chain woes… and you’re looking at 5-6-7 weeks!

Then the customer slaps you with a refund, and all of that time spent testing and spending money on ads was for nothing.

You don’t have to worry about any of that when you’re renting out digital properties.

4) It’s Effectively Copy-Paste: Here’s my favorite part: once you have your first Digital Rental Property up, you can literally copy-paste another version of it and find another willing “renter” in a few days. DOUBLING your income doesn’t get much easier than that…

If you wanted to double your income with dropshipping, you would need to sell twice as much inventory, or double your profit margins. And I can guarantee you (from my Shopify dropshipping days), that’s a lot harder than a few clicks & a phone call.

5) Big Margins: With dropshipping, you’re often going to have really slim margins. That means you need to hit a serious scale to make serious money. This usually entails spending A LOT of money on ads and other methods for growing traffic to your product.

using the Digital Rental Method, your profit margin is nearly 100%. Watch here to learn how.

Just a reminder: these Digital Rental Properties are worth (at a minimum) $500/mo in semi-passive income. And each time you create another one, your income increases, and the effort put into creating the next property decreases.

Best-case scenario, you have properties bringing in over $3,000+/mo on auto-pilot.

6) You’re Helping REAL People: My biggest gripe with dropshipping is that you’re usually finding some product that’s complete garbage and tricking people into buying it. It provides no real value to them or the world in general.

It’s cool in the short term to make a quick buck, but in the long term, it gets really old fast.

But With the Digital Rental Method, you’re helping solve REAL problems that people are ASKING for help with.

Small local businesses around the world need one thing: customers. Without them, their business would fall apart. If you can provide those customers, they’re going to be really happy – and they’re going to pay you for it.

You’re helping a struggling mother or father put food on the table for their families, put their kids through college, or simply live life a little bit more comfortably.

Having this type of impact on the world is what will help you sleep soundly at night.

So, the rest is up to you. You could keep looking at other dropshipping companies like Poshmark, which might make you money 12 months from now.

You could keep researching and researching for the next few months (or few years), never making a concrete decision.

OR, you can look deep inside, think about those dreams, hopes, & desires, and make the decision to ACTUALLY make it happen, just like it has for thousands of other students before you.

Making a fortune while actually helping real people that need it.
