The Penny Hoarder is a privately held personal finance website aimed at assisting its users in living a simpler, more cost-effective lifestyle. The Penny Hoarder was established in 2010 by Taylor Media’s CEO, Kyle Taylor.
The Penny Hoarder delivers genuine and thoroughly researched material on how to make and save money. It includes information on news coverage, stories of people’s initiatives to improve their financial situations, and other original content related to personal finance.
The Penny Hoarder focuses on lower-income readers who may feel left out by other financial publications. Everything on this website is constantly updated, and hidden opportunities are posted on it, demonstrating the extensive research that has gone into it.
Now, I do want to be totally up front here, so…
Alright, so The Penny Hoarder doesn’t exactly fit into a nice category.
At the end of the day, financial tips and making money opportunities is a… unique way to think about making money.
It’s certainly possible to make money with off-the-wall businesses like this, but unless you’re interested in taking years out of your life to experiment with an unproven business model, I would look elsewhere.
My #1 personal recommendation if we’re talking about starting a fully-online business has got to be the Lead Generation & Ad Agency business models.
There are a handful of programs that teach you the ropes, but my #1 choice that combines both of those business models into one is the Digital Landlords program
But, if you’re hard-pressed to jump head-first into an off-the-wall business model, let’s continue on to my full breakdown of The Penny Hoarder.

Making Money With The Penny Hoarder Website
Before discussing how to make money from the Penny Hoarder website, it’s crucial to understand what it is. I have always liked this site, so I’ve followed them on social media for over a year and checked their website whenever they post new content.
Even though I like to keep things simple, I’m drawn to Penny Hoarder’s writing style and the things they write about. But lately, I’ve started looking at the site more carefully to see if it can help me find a good side hustle.
The Penny Hoarder presents a surprising amount of opportunity for those looking to supplement their income…
How Does The Penny Hoarder Work?
The Penny Hoarder provides information and research for people who want to make extra money on the side while also posting some of their own money-making opportunities.
Over 20 articles are published on the website each day. Categories include “Make Money,” “Deals,” “Food,” “WFH,” “Smart Money,” “Life,” and “Academy.” Original videos, photo essays, and infographics are also available, along with the written content.
This is what you’ll find if you go to Thepennyhoarder.com’s About Us page… There is no doubt that the site’s description is accurate.
There are 13 million monthly readers, 5.7 million Facebook followers, and more than 2 million email subscribers. It’s also the fastest-growing private media company in the world.
When it comes to personal finance, Penny Hoarder does a lot of the legwork, which comes from their articles on making extra money. On their website, you can find an entire section dedicated to making extra money, and you can see a link to it in the main menu tab across the page.
The Make Money tab is where you’ll find it.
However, what sort of chances are there on this page? Is the information you’re reading actually going to benefit you, or are you just reading generic fluff?
In my research, I’ve compiled my thoughts on the subject here.
Is It Possible To Make Money With The Penny Hoarder’s Suggested Investments?
There are four sections under the Make Money tab.
- Side Gigs
- WFH (Work From Home)
Each of these sub-sections was carefully examined before being addressed.
So, first things first: jobs.
Jobs On Penny Hoarder
There are a lot of articles on this page explaining how people can apply for various jobs. Articles on Yelp’s employment opportunities include writing assignments to product reviews. The company also publishes articles written by people who have landed unique jobs. The authors share their experiences and offer advice on how to land a similar position.
Penny Hoarder does a great job of keeping everything up-to-date. They post articles to these pages on a near-daily basis. In addition, they appear to devote a lot of time and effort to research these various options.
Seriously, this site has a lot of weird and beautiful opportunities listed on it! It’s cool, but it also shows how much work they must be putting in, which is impressive in and of itself.
Side Gigs On Penny Hoarder
In many ways, this site section is similar to the Jobs section, except that some of these articles detail more’ temporary opportunities.‘ This page includes information on writing contests, survey websites, and other opportunities the sort.
If you’re looking for a side gig, you might want to check out this section of the site… even though they also keep track of more long-term gigs here. Everything is always up to date, and the content is always of the highest caliber.
Work From Home Gigs On Penny Hoarder
This section of the site focuses solely on work-at-home opportunities. They publish everything from how-to articles to in-depth job descriptions that you can apply for right now!
Even better, it’s all about working from home.
Penny Hoarder does a great job of finding unusual job openings, making their website appealing to people like me who are constantly looking for new and different things to do.
Career Opportunities On Penny Hoarder
As far as I can tell, the Career section of their website is a lot more focused on topics like building a strong LinkedIn profile, negotiating a salary, performing well in job interviews, and so on.
It’s easier to find a list of ‘tricks and tips’ than actual job opportunities. There’s no doubt that it’s a worthwhile site to visit, though.
Can You Make Money With Penny Hoarder?
No, you cannot profit from The Penny Hoarder. The website only provides information, insights, and tips on making extra money, saving money, and budgeting. Unless you are constantly online looking for side gigs, which could earn you some money.
You could work as a freelance writer for them, but the process is highly competitive. Although people make a few dollars here and there from the website, it’s not a money-making platform. No guarantee learning about them on the site will lead to you getting your dream job.
The Penny Hoarder is not a money-making website but is jam-packed with great personal finance information.
The Penny Hoarder Review: Conclusion
The Penny Hoarder, in my opinion, is a personal finance website that promises to provide you with a wealth of advice on improving your own business.
This is not the platform for you to build a money-making website.
Are There Any Alternatives To The Penny Hoarder?
Yes, there are plenty of sales programs to choose from if you want to pursue this business model. Here are just a few:
- Digital Real Estate
- Remote Closing Academy
- Digital Sales Society
- Guide To Starting A Direct Sales Company
- Online Sales Pro
Is The Penny Hoarder A Scam?
Time for the $1,000,000 question: is The Penny Hoarder actually a scam?
I wouldn’t technically call it a scam, though others might.
It’s technically possible to make money with this program, so in that sense, it isn’t a scam.
What I’m saying is: after buying, someone will in fact send you a login to a website where you can actually view their material. No one is riding off into the sunset with your money, leaving you empty-handed… technically speaking.
But the second, more important question is: is The Penny Hoarder actually worth the investment?
My honest answer is that for most people out there, probably not.
There are countless other business models that are proven & easily scalable, so why risk it for… not an incredibly huge payoff?
I’d rather have a program with thousands of successful students & plenty of room for others to join.
If you’ve followed my blog for long, you know I recommend a few different programs depending on your skills & goals.
My current top choice is becoming a Digital Landlord, because you have a proven, systematic path to 6-figures, and you can do it from anywhere you want.
I’ve got friends in there posting deals from the middle of the woods in a camper-van with their pet pig… which is kinda cool.
What Is My #1 Recommendation To Make Money Online In 2022?
Alright, time for me to get real with my lovely readers for a moment:
I’ve personally tried all of the major online business models:
- I’ve sold fidget spinners through Amazon FBA
- I’ve drop-shipped a toilet bowl putting green on Shopify
- I’ve sold women’s health supplements via Clickbank affiliate marketing
And I made money with all of them, so trust me when I say: there is no “perfect” business model.
THAT BEING SAID: I would at least recommend you implement something that is tried and true, because I’ve seen TOO MANY people (including friends and family) get burned by stuff like The Penny Hoarder.
They come out of left field with some random idea, make it seem attractive, and then make themselves a quick buck by luring in unsuspecting people.
I’m not saying The Penny Hoarder itself is a piece of trash, I’m just saying you need to be very, very careful.
This is a big reason why I only recommend proven, tried and true business models, like Lead Generation & Ad Agencies.
There are a bunch of programs out there that teach you those skills, but my top choice is the Digital Landlords program.
Why? It has proven leaders with their own 7-figure businesses implementing exactly what they teach you.
I’ve also got over a dozen personal friends in there, so I feel comfortable telling you it works.
Whether you’re a complete newbie, or you’ve been around the block before but have never had that “big win” to propel you forward, their program works.
1)Time: If you’ve got a spare hour or two each day, you can do this. If you want to drop everything and go all in, you can do this. More time obviously means faster results, but even putting in a few hours per day is enough to see real success.
And because of that flexibility, you don’t need to trade your time for money. Once the income starts, it’s recurring (for the most part).
That means you can take a month off, travel the country, pursue a passion project, chill on the beach, or charter a boat across the world.
But you can only do that once you’ve created an income stream that doesn’t require YOU to be there all day, every day.
2)Big Margins: With most businesses, you’re often going to have really slim margins. That means you need to hit a serious scale to make serious money.
Being a Digital Landlord, your profit margin is nearly 100%. Watch here to learn how.
Just a reminder: these Digital Rental Properties are worth (at a minimum) $500/mo in semi-passive income. And each time you create another one, your income increases, and the effort put into creating the next property decreases.
Best-case scenario, you have properties bringing in over $3,000+/mo on “auto-pilot.”
3)It’s Effectively Copy-Paste: Here’s my favorite part: once you have your first Digital Rental Property up, you can literally copy-paste another version of it and find another willing “renter” in a few days. DOUBLING your income doesn’t get much easier than that…
If you wanted to double your income with The Penny Hoarder, you would need to invest a lot of time and energy. And I can guarantee you, that’s a lot harder than a few clicks & a phone call.
4)You’re Helping REAL People: My biggest gripe with The Penny Hoarder is that you’re basically only helping yourself.
But when you’re a Digital Landlord, you’re helping solve REAL problems that people are ASKING for help with:
Small local businesses around the world need one thing: customers. Without them, their business would fall apart. If we can provide those customers, they’re going to be really happy – and they’re going to pay you for it.
You’re helping a struggling mother or father put food on the table for their families, put their kids through college, or simply live life a little bit more comfortably.
Having this type of impact on the world is what will help you sleep soundly at night.
So, the rest is up to you. You could keep looking at other off-the-wall business models like digital media and maybe hit it big one day.
You could keep researching and researching for the next few months (or few years), never making a concrete decision.
OR, you can look deep inside, think about those dreams, hopes, & desires, and make the decision to ACTUALLY make it happen, just like it has for thousands of other students before you.
Making a fortune while actually helping real people that need it.
