Sounds pretty great… but is it?
It is 100% possible to make money with affiliate marketing – the real question is: is Keala Kanae the best affiliate marketing program out there?
Well, the most difficult (and therefore most valuable) skill in the internet business is driving traffic AKA getting people to visit a website.
Later on we’ll talk about why it’s so difficult to drive quality traffic.
But for now, let’s just say it isn’t exactly an easy process (unless you have a proven traffic source for the exact product you’re trying to sell).
If you really break it down, is affiliate marketing much different than a 9-5 job? You work for someone else, sell their stuff, and they can fire you at any time.
You don’t really control anything, despite doing the most important part – driving traffic.
To be 100% clear, I’m not saying affiliate marketing wont work. If you’ve followed my blog for long, you’ll know that I’ve made money myself as an affiliate marketer (selling women’s health products).
I have several friends that make over $20,000/mo as affiliate marketers.
What you don’t hear about is the $200,000 they had to invest UP-FRONT to start making that money.
But let’s suppose that you REALLY want to work that laptop-entrepreneur lifestyle.

Who Is Keala Kanae?
You’ve probably seen his advertisements on YouTube and Facebook, in which he flaunts his luxurious property. You start to doubt whether you’ll ever be able to afford such a lifestyle.
On the other hand, it seems far too easy.
So, you might be wondering how he become so wealthy at such a young age or whether he is a legit marketer.
What better way to discover this than to examine his two projects, AWOL Academy and Fullstaq Marketer?
His Early Years
Keala Kanae was born on the poorer side of town in Honolulu, Hawaii, and grew up in public housing.
His father was a dock worker, while his mother was a maid. His parents split when he was 13 years old.
Five years later, while still in college, he and several pals created a business dubbed “hotel parties,” where people paid to attend.
As a result of this business, they could do nightclub marketing. Unfortunately, the situation did not turn out well, and Keala Kanae lost all his money.
He became interested in business and marketing as a result of this.
Keala Kanae earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Hawaii in Manoa in 2006. He was the first in his family to graduate with a bachelor’s degree, making it a significant milestone for the entire family.
Early Career
He was confronted with the realities of his financial status after graduation. He owed $20,000 and lived in a coffee shop from paycheck to paycheck.
In August 2012, Keala Kanae indicated that he had hit rock bottom. He couldn’t even afford to buy a suitable birthday present for his girlfriend. He gave her his mother’s old handbag instead.
He promised himself that he would never put himself in that situation again.
He departed his job eight months later and went to work in online marketing, where he made a comfortable five-figure salary.
First Online Marketing Ventures
During his time at the University of Hawaii, Keala Kanae worked in Internet marketing.
He took part in training and activities to broaden his understanding of digital work.
From 2000 through 2010, he worked as a social media internet marketer for various marketing organizations, according to his LinkedIn page.
He worked for Smile Entertainment, Exodus Entertainment, KK Auto, Stanton Mortgage, and Oahu Lending.

AWOL affiliate products are genuine and offer a comprehensive understanding of the digital marketing industry.
Keala Kanae has a lot of experience with web marketing, and his statements largely reflect that.
The program is user-friendly and suitable for anyone who wants to earn money online.
However, the training is prohibitively pricey for people who are short on finances but want to try their hand at digital marketing.
They also advertised all-encompassing web tools that they employed.
No one has $500 to $1,000 in their wallet as a beginner marketer. If you put in the work, the program guarantees a $10,000 return in three months – but that is not an easy task.
Pros
- Lessons are straightforward but comprehensive, providing a thorough grasp of the digital world.
- Keala Kanae is a qualified internet marketing coach with extensive experience.
- AWOL also offers one-on-one tutoring based on the user’s learning pace.
Cons
- As the curriculum progresses, the cost rises, but plenty of inexpensive, even free, alternative learning material is available online.
- When ‘encouraging’ customers to purchase upsells, the courses are rather ‘pushy,’ giving the impression that they are sleazy and fake.
- The tools that will be used in the classes must be acquired individually.
What Happened To AWOL Academy?
AWOL Academy‘s popularity waned with time, and the organization became entrenched in its problems.
The Better Business Bureau (BBB) account does not even recognize AWOL.
A lot has happened at AWOL Academy, and Keala Kanae decided to break up with Kameron George in 2018.
However, his training model was a success, and it was even carried over into the new Fullstaq Marketer brand.

Fullstaq Marketer Review: What Do People Say About The Program?
It’s far too similar to AWOL Academy’s classes, although it’s a touch less pricey.
This does not, however, indicate that it is a reasonable sum.
Many people still associate Fullstaq Marketer with AWOL Academy and hence give Fullstaq the same positive or negative reviews.
Pros
- It’s less expensive than AWOL Academy while still providing the same degree of expertise.
- There is a 30-day money back guarantee if you are unhappy with the product.
- You will receive a certificate as a result of your participation.
Cons
- Only because it is less expensive than AWOL Academy, money like that doesn’t come up very often.
- On top of the already high rates, there are several hidden expenses.
- The company is not BBB-accredited, although the course offers a certificate.
Keala Kanae Review: Is Keala Kanae A Scam?
So, time for the $1,000,000 question – is Keala Kanae’s program a scam?
No, it’s not a “scam”, technically speaking. They aren’t going to collect your payment and then ride off into the sunset without delivering you a program.
You can make money with this program. My only gripe is that making money with affiliate marketing is NOT NEARLY as easy as Keala Kanae wants you to think it is.
As we said earlier, the most important part of doing affiliate marketing right is driving traffic. That means being good at:
- Writing ads that sell
- Running ads on Google
- Running ads on Facebook
- Writing website blogs
- Ranking websites
- Converting users that land on your site
- Email marketing
And a whole lot more.
If you’re going to spend time learning those skills, why not do it in a way that makes YOU all the money – instead of someone else?
There’s just a lot of work to be done here, and no real guarantee of success (not to mention commissions can be small).
Don’t get me wrong – I’m ALL FOR doing the hard work now, so that you can reap the benefits later.
But if you’re going to hit something super hard for 3-6 months, and your reward is barely enough money for a tank of gas… it’s just not worth it (in my opinion).
Again, I’m not saying it won’t work – I’ve personally made money with it, as have many of my friends.
I’m just saying it’s a situation where the stars need to kind of align for you in a perfect way.
And you shouldn’t be in the business of leaving your fate up to the stars…
But what if instead of all that, you could work those same 3-6 months, and generate a handful of checks that generated you $500-$2,000 EACH, every single month (almost on autopilot)?
And what if you learned it from someone who has already mastered the ability to drive traffic profitably?
